This weekend is all about sold-out shows and packed theaters around the world as Avengers: Age of Ultron has been released and is taking the box office by storm. The action-packed superhero film is already a fan favorite thanks to its 2012 predecessor, which grossed $1.5 billion worldwide. So as the Avengers cast returns to save the world, we at Instep can’t help but wonder who would be the best cast if this movie was made in Pakistan?
Iron Man: Ali Zafar
(Originally Robert Downey Jr.)
If there is anyone in the Avengers who enjoys all the limelight and glory, it has to be Iron Man. From her gorgeous looks to her million dollar lifestyle, it all screams ‘look at me, look at me, now’. In our humble opinion, traces of the narcissism possessed by Iron Man can be found in Ali Zafar. From his successful Bollywood career to his conspicuous presence at social gatherings in Lahore and from his Instagram pictures to his Twitter posts, Ali demands and commands public attention.
Robert Downey Jr. famously calls himself a “genius billionaire playboy philanthropist” and even though Ali isn’t quite there yet, we think he’s well on his way to becoming Pakistan’s first Iron Man!
Captain America: Fawad Khan
(Originally Chris Evans)
With an undeniable national spirit and as someone known as ‘America’s Top Cop’, Captain America is the epitome of a true hero. From his neatness and swagger to his undying love for his nation, Captain America is every American’s ideal hero. In Pakistan, only one name comes to mind as the idealist and perfect representative of the country: Fawad Afzal Khan!
Ever since she graced the border, this gorgeous celebrity has been a heartthrob that audiences can’t get enough of. He is the captain of Pakistan, the bastion of everything is Pakistani. Be it Umar Farooq walking the ramp for Republic or representing Pakistan at the IIFA Awards 2015, he has and does it all!
Black Widow – Misha Shafi
(Originally Scarlett Johansson)
The only female protagonist in the Avengers series, Black Widow is the perfect blend of a tough, hard-to-knock fighter and a mysterious siren. Played by Scarlett Johansson, the mysterious redheaded Black Widow is an avenger who doesn’t really need any superpowers to kill. His hands do all the talking.
If there is one woman who can truly replace Johansson as Black Widow, it can only be Misha Shafi. A crowd pleaser, the multi-talented actress and singer is a perfect fit. Her dynamic personality and her amazing looks are similar to Johansson’s. We wouldn’t be surprised if this multifaceted lady is also trained in the same martial arts and fighting techniques as Black Widow.
Hulk – Sean
(Originally by Mark Ruffalo)
Otherwise calm and patient, Dr. Bruce Banner does his best to control the situation but when he can’t, he transforms into the super angry Hulk. The fascinating transformation of a brilliant, intellectual scientist into a downright terrifying monster is what makes the Hulk so interesting!
Like the Hulk, Shaun Shahid also seems to have anger issues and forgets his handsome and sensible side when provoked, which happens quite often. We have seen him laughing at award shows, TV programs and old Punjabi movies too. We’ve seen him turn green with an emotion that metaphorically turns you green with: envy! But we also love Shawn and feel that he, like the Hulk, is in an uncontrollable, involuntary state. Fortunately, he manages to lead her to some great acting.
Thor.Hamza Ali Abbasi
(Originally Chris Hemsworth)
If looks could kill, an Asgardian prince wouldn’t even need his hammer or divine powers. It’s really Thor’s charming personality and his ever-charming antics that make audiences fall in love with him. Also, thanks to Chris Hemsworth’s stellar performance, Thor is a fan favorite.
Without the long blond hair, we at Instep believe that Hamza Ali Abbasi is no slouch in being Thor. Hamza Ali Abbasi stands out from the rest with her stunning beauty and equally amazing acting. He is just as primitive and naive as Hamza proves in his various ideas, but at the end of the day his looks and that hammer are his strength. What is Hamza’s hammer, you may ask, and to be honest, we still don’t know.
