ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday called on President Osuf Ali Zardari and apprised the President of the “provocative measures” of Afghan forces along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Afghan forces, which are with the help of militant groups, have been targeting Pakistan since last week, resulting in the martyrdom of several Pakistani soldiers – and in response to the Taliban’s aggression, more than 200 militants have been killed.
In a statement, the President’s Secretariat said that Field Marshal Munir demanded President Zardari in the Sadri House of Islamabad, where he informed the Supreme Commander of the armed forces about the country’s internal and external security environment.
Field Marshal apprised President Zardari about the security situation on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Coas told the president about “measurement and proper reaction by Pakistan’s armed forces”.
At the meeting, President Zardari expressed his full confidence in the power and preparation of Pakistan’s armed forces.
The President praised the security forces for his vigilance and professionalism in defending borders and repeating cross -border attacks. He confirmed that Pakistan would defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.
By justifying Pakistan’s position, the Afghan Taliban relied on a footnoting over and targeted several border areas, including Angor Ada, Bajur and Karam, last week. In his retaliation, Pakistani forces targeted several Afghan posts and terror hideouts at several border points.
The army confirmed that after the first phase of the clashes, Pakistani forces killed more than 200 Afghan Taliban and its affiliated terrorists in their defense. However, defending the motherland, 23 soldiers accepted the martyrdom.
The army said that Pakistani forces conducted physical raids along with health fires and strikes, which were directed against Taliban camps and positions, terrorist training facilities, and a network working from the Afghan area.
But the clashes were not stopped because the Afghan Taliban government continued its unprecedented attacks. In early October 15, the Afghan Taliban, once again resorted to cowardly attacks in four places in the spin Boldak area of Balochistan, which were successfully repulsed.
While repealing the attack, 15-20 Afghan Taliban were killed and many were injured, public relations with inter-services revealed and said that eight Afghan posts, including six tanks, were destroyed in effective and proportional response to Pakistani soldiers.
The rise between the two neighboring countries has also reacted to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran, Russia, and other countries, in which all countries have called for prevention and called for dialogue.
Last week, the Afghan government provoked provocation when the Taliban’s top diplomat was making an extraordinary visit to India. There, he commented against Pakistan – a nation that has supported the Afghans for decades and kept millions of refugees.
