PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has returned the resignation of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, citing signed contradictions and requesting further clarification.
According to the governor, he received two resignations from Gandpur, but the signing of both letters was contradictory.
Kandi posted on X, “After consideration, the resignation of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been returned with observation.”
In a letter, Kandi asked the Chief Minister to visit the Governor’s House on October 15 at 3:00 pm to confirm his resignation.
Meanwhile, the KP Assembly is ready to elect a new leader of the House today.
Four candidates have approved their nomination papers, including Pakistan Tahrik Justice (PTI) Sohail Afridi, Jimit Ulema-e-Fazal (Joy F) Maulana Latifor Rehman, Pakistan League Noz (Muslim LNPS) Sean. Arbab Zark Khan
Opposition parties are also in consultation with the unanimous unanimous candidate. Opposition leader Dr Abdullah said the opposition would present a joint nomination for the elections.
There are 145 members of the KP Assembly, including 93 in the government and 52 in the opposition, while a total of 73 votes are needed to elect a new chief minister.
Gandpur, a fire brand PTI leader, retired from the post of KPCM on October 8, a few hours after party leaders announced Afridi’s nomination for the post.
He wrote in a post on X at the moment, “In compliance with the orders of the founder of my leader, and PTI chairman, Imran Khan, it is an honor that I have the honor of resigning from the post of Chief Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he wrote in a post at the X.
PTI Gandapur is in a rush to elect a new chief minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa without waiting for the formal acceptance and notification of the resignation.
Analysts fear that such a move can create a constitutional crisis and stop the elections itself. However, the majority of PTI wants to move forward with the election of Afridi as the new CM after the resignation of Gandpur in KP.
Most leaders appear to be eager to complete a rapid transition, but many senior lawyers believe that such a rush can be legally returned.
In his view, the Chief Minister’s office is vacated only when the resignation is accepted by the governor. Without such acceptance and in the absence of official notification, this position cannot be legally declared, and therefore, the selection of a new chief minister will lead to legal fighting.
“The cabinet has dissolved only after the cabinet’s resignation after the cabinet,” said a senior legal expert. Until then, Gandpur holds the constitution of this office. “
Even within the PTI it was discussed that in the past, the resignations of PTI parliamentarians were not easily accepted – the party was forcing the party to seek judicial intervention. He warned that ignoring the codal formation this bar would not only invite legal challenges but could also delay or completely prevent Afridi’s elections as CM.
“It seems that someone inside the PTI is playing a game to stop the new chief minister’s election,” a senior PTI leader remarked.
Party sources confirmed that the PTI plans to hold the elections “as soon as possible”, though the governor’s House has not yet accepted Gandpur’s resignation.
Legal experts believe that moving forward without this important step will legally flaw the whole process. Even inside the party, he has been arrested, “any elections in such situations will be misunderstood in the eyes of the law.”
With deepening the divisions within the PTI and expanding legal ambiguity, a quick move to change the threats of Gandapur, which pushed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into another phase of political and constitutional uncertainty.
