The first step in US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the Gaza war, the announcement of a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement on Thursday broke out in both Gaza and Israel.
Hamas and Israel had publicly endorsed the deal and was expected to sign it around the afternoon at the Egyptian Beach Resort of Sharm Elshih (0900 GMT), though it was not immediately officially confirmed that they had been signed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said it would once be ratified by the Israeli government, which will be held after a security cabinet meeting for 5 pm.
Israeli hostage coordinator Gail Harsh said the list of release of Palestinian prisoners is still being prepared.
Gaza residents reported a series of air strikes until the time of the signing of the Gaza City.
Seas Fire, Returns, and Release of hostages
Under this agreement, the fighting will end, Israel will partially withdraw from Gaza, and Hamas will liberate the hostages who have been arrested in the attack, in exchange for Israeli -controlled prisoners.
A source briefed on the details of the agreement has said that Israeli troops will begin to pull back within 24 hours of signing.
An Israeli official said that the release of all 20 hostages in Gaza is still expected on Sunday or Monday. In the absence, 26 more hostages have been declared dead and the fate of two is not known. Hamas has indicated that it may take time to recover the bodies scattered in Gaza.
The families of Palestinians and Israeli hostages were reported to be wild events after news of the deal came out.
In Gaza, where more than 2 million people have been displaced by the Israeli bombing, youths were praised in destructive streets, even as Israeli attacks continued.
‘All the strip of Gaza is happy’
“Thank God for the end of ceasefire and murder in Khan Yunus in southern Gaza.” “I am not the only one happy, the whole belt in Gaza is happy, all the Arab people, the whole world is happy with the ceasefire and the end of bloodshed.”
Annao Zagkar, whose son Matan is one of the last hostages, was happy in the so -called Square, which was taken hostage by Tel Aviv, where the families of those who occupied the Hamas attack two years ago have gathered to demand their return.
“I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe, I can’t explain what I’m feeling … it’s crazy,” he said talking about a celebration’s red brightness.
They said, “What should I tell him? What should I do? Hugs it and kiss it.” “Just tell her that I love her, just. And seeing her eyes drowning inside me … It’s too much – it’s relief.”
Nevertheless, Gaza residents said that the Israeli three Gaza city continued overnight and Thursday morning, residents said, though there were no immediate reports of casualties.
The Gaza Ministry of Health said at least nine Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the past 24 hours.
Just one day after the second anniversary of the Hamas cross -border attack, which mobilized Israel’s devastating attack on Gaza, indirect talks in Egypt acquired the agreement as the initial phase of the 20 -point framework offered by Trump.
The main feat for Trump
The deal was widely presented as a major diplomatic success for the US president, who campaigned on promises to end the war in Gaza. It put it as the first step in a plan to bring reconciliation into the Middle East in the Middle East.
He wrote on social media, “All parties will be treated fairly! It is a great day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all the surrounding nations, and the United States, and we thank the mediators of Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, who worked with us to present this historic and unprecedented event.” “Happy are peaceful!”
But there are still many solutions to the deal. Nevertheless, after the war, Gaza plans to rule, and Hamas’s final fate, which has rejected Israel’s demands to abandon its weapons.
Netanyahu described the deal as “a diplomatic success and a national and moral victory for the state of Israel.”
But the right -wing members of its alliance have long been opposed to any agreement with Hamas. One, Finance Minister Bezel Smithrich, said that after returning the hostage, Hamas must be destroyed. He will not vote in favor of a ceasefire agreement, though he did not refrain from threatening to end Netanyahu’s alliance.
The deal received a curriculum in support of Arab and Western countries, which saw that several ceasefire efforts had failed.
In the next phase of Trump’s plan, Trump has called for an international organization led by Trump, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, to play its part in the post -war administration.
Arab countries that support the project say it should be a final independence for the Palestinian state, which Netanyahu says will never happen. Hamas rejected Gaza in international rule, and any role for Blair.
Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed more than 67,000 Palestinians, when on October 7, 2023, Hamas -led members attacked Israeli towns, killing 1,200 people and occupying 251 hostages.
In parallel, the Israeli military has launched campaigns that have described the balance of power in the Middle East in their favor, killing Iranian commanders in a 12 -day war against Iran in a campaign in Lebanon and Iran.
But global anger has come against the Israeli invasion, which has been isolated internationally.
