At the UN Security Council, Pakistan welcomed US President Donald Trump’s move to pursue a peace plan for Gaza and the wider Middle East, with harmony with eight OIC and Arab states.
Ambassador Asim Afti Khar Ahmed, a permanent representative of Pakistan in the United Nations, told the council members that Islamabad would actively participate in the consultation process to support a sustainable resolution.
Addressing a briefing on the Middle East, including the question of Palestine (SCR 2334), Ahmed said, “We appreciate President Donald Trump’s move, which, together with eight OIC and Arab countries, pushes peace forward.”
As a participation in this consultation process, Pakistan will play a close and constructive role in promoting consensus, “Ahmed emphasized that the purpose of this purpose is to relieve the suffering of Palestinians and to achieve a fair, comprehensive and lasting peace according to UN resolutions.
On Monday, President Trump said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed to a US -backed peace plan for Gaza, even Israeli forces pressured a heavy aggression in Palestinian raids.
The proposal calls for ceasefire and release of hostages, but its success still depends on whether or not to come to Hamas.
Addressing a joint press conference with Netanyahu, Trump said he was “very close” to counter the peace deal and he hoped that Hamas would accept it too.
The White House releases Trump’s 20 -point plan that calls for a ceasefire, exchanging hostages for Palestinian prisoners organized by Hamas by Hamas, an Israeli withdrawal from the Palestinian Enclave, an Israeli withdrawal from Hamas and an international government.
During the UNSC session, Ambassador Ahmed added that for more than two years, the Council has been occupied with an unbearable tragedy in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territory.
He added that Palestinians’ distress with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif last week is increasing: “The plight of the Palestinian people is one of the most heartbreaking tragedies of our time.”
“More than 66,000 Palestinians have been killed, women and children with a large majority, adding,” Gaza is being bombed not only in the sky, he said. Its people are being hungry to the ground. Homes, schools and hospitals have been reduced to debris. “
The ambassador emphasized that expansion of military operations in Gaza city is a catastrophe in front of our eyes, which is at risk of forced displacement of about one million people who have no safe haven.
He highlighted the ongoing threats of the two states’ solutions, especially the E-1 settlement project.
“The E -1 settlement plan is a direct attack on the framework of two states, which threatens to break East Jerusalem from the Palestinian territories and end the West Bank harmony. Such policies are not only unfair.
Ahmed warned, “He violates international law and security council resolutions, including resolution 2334, in which settlements were declared illegal and demanded immediate stop,” said Ahmed, saying that the continuation of corruption was dismissed by the council’s reputation.
The Ambassador presented the Security Council’s calls of Pakistan’s calls, including immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, eliminating the blockade, the release of unmanageable humanitarian sympathy, the release of hostages and prisoners, eliminating the forced migration and settlement activity, and implementing the resolution 2334.
He also emphasized the beginning of a credible political process, which has resulted in the attraction of a sovereign and viable Palestinian state based on the borders before 1967, in which Alakids al -Sharif is its capital.
“People in Palestine cannot wait. The reason for peace and the credibility of this council depends on what we do in that moment.
Ahmed concluded, “Pakistan will stand with the people of Palestine, and together with the members of the council and other partners, they will work for a fair and lasting peace for all in the region.”
