Since the beginning of Pakistan, our armed forces have been vigilant not only in the protection of the fronts but also in the upbringing of the country’s sports spirit. Of these, the Pakistan Navy has played an important role in promoting and maintaining national sports. Whether in inter -services competitions or on the national stage, Navy players have left their mark in articles, pushing the proud tradition of service through sports.
Like the former naval chiefs, Naveed Ashraf, the current Chief of the Navy, is maintaining the tradition of patronizing and promoting sports in the Navy as well as the national level.
Similarly, in recent days, the Pakistan Navy has once again confirmed its commitment by hosting the 4th Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) All Pakistan Hockey Tournament at the historic National Hockey Stadium in Lahore. The move is more than a competition, it is a conscious effort to breathe a new life in hockey, Pakistan’s national sport, once respected globally and now in dire need of rehabilitation.
The time for this tournament may not be more important. Pakistan is preparing to return to the World Hockey Circuit through the upcoming FIH Pro League, the CNS Hockey Tournament offers both domestic capabilities and encourages. It indicates young players that the country’s institutions have not abandoned hockey, but have invested in their lives.
Pakistan has been comprehensive. A gathering in the Central Dirt of the Pakistan Navy honors the past stallworms, and the icons like Iktar Rasool, Shahbaz Senior, Tahir Zaman and other hockey gravites invite their insights to advance hockey.
Pakistan Navy Commander Central Punjab, Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmi, highlighted the Navy’s efforts in promoting sports and emphasized the vision of the organization’s vision of creating opportunities to improve athletics nationally and internationally.
He reminded us that the Pakistan Navy has created international fame sports players, in which cricket star Fakir Zaman stands as a shining example. In hockey, he confessed, was built at the lower levels of Sean, which is now missing, and collective action has been emphasized for the reconstruction of this foundation.
The CNS tournament has become a symbol of unity and rehabilitation since its inception in 2016. The third edition held in Karachi in 2021 was widely appreciated, and the current tournament in Lahore is not even less grand. Eight elite teams, including the Pakistan Army, Air Force, National Bank, Port Qasim, Police, Rangers, Mari Petroleum, and Pakistan Navy, are fighting for high honors, and are providing a high quality platform to showcase their abilities to the big and enthusiastic crowds.
The Pakistan Navy has ensured that the virtue has been rewarded. Beyond the shining trophy, the cash award is waiting for three teams, while the special honor will go to the best player, leading goal scorer, and the best goalkeeper. Such privileges not only affect the players, but also show the seriousness of the Navy in the upbringing of competitive spirit.
Pakistan Navy partnerships are not limited to hockey. Inaugurating Karachi in 1991, his Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex has become an important facility, which has promoted the unprecedented legacy of Pakistan’s squash dominance. Championships, equipped with courts, gymnasiums and training facilities, have hosted a number of international programs and continues to attract growing capabilities.
From sailing to shooting, golf cricket, the Pakistan Navy has provided permanent platforms to shine players. This multi -dimensional contribution reflects a comprehensive approach: promoting physical fitness, nurturing national pride, and making sure that Pakistan’s name resonates in global sports circles.
At a time when hockey is fighting for survival in Pakistan, navy patronage is timely and invaluable. Keeping the flame alive, they remind us that rehabilitation is possible, but only with collective determination. When the CNS Hockey Tournament begins in Lahore, it hopes that its echoes will encourage policy makers, federations, and sponsors to meet the Navy’s commitment and to revive Pakistan’s lost splendor globally.
