The UK’s envoy forced Tehran to warn Tehran on Friday after the Russian and Chinese Security Council failed to fail, that UN sanctions would be re -submitted on Friday after the West took responsibility for any results.
The decision to restore sanctions by Western powers is likely to boost tensions with Tehran, which has already been warned that the action will be met with a strong response and will be opened to increase it.
Russian and Chinese pressure failed to delay the return of sanctions on the 15 -member UN Security Council after only four countries supported their draft resolution.
“This council does not have the necessary assurance that there is a clear path to a quick diplomatic solution,” said Barbara Wood, the United Nations envoy to the United Nations after the vote.
“The council fulfilled the necessary steps for the Snapback process set in Resolution 2231, so the UN sanctions will be imposed this weekend, targeting Iranian proliferation,” he said.
UN sanctions returned today
Iranian President Masood Pazeshkian told a group of journalists and analysts that Iran had no intention of withdrawing a non -proliferation agreement in response to the restoration of UN sanctions.
“Iran will never look for nuclear weapons … we are fully prepared to be transparent about our highly enriched uranium,” said Pizshakian.
All UN sanctions on Iran are returning to the EDT at 8 pm after Saturday (0000 GMT) when known as E3, accusing Tehran of violating the 2015 agreement, which aims to prevent nuclear weapons.
Iran refuses to search for nuclear weapons.
The diplomats said that the resolution of delay in sanctions for six months was unlikely to be approved, after which the last ditch between Iran and the United Kingdom, France and Germany failed to break the deadlock.
Nine countries did not give numbers, while two avoided.
According to the State media, after what he said, the European states had a “irresponsible” Snapback mechanism to restore, Iran called on its ambassadors to consult in Germany, France and the United Kingdom on Saturday.
Russia’s deputy envoy to the United Nations accused Western powers of burying a diplomatic route.
Iran says the United States cheated with diplomacy, E3 buried it
“The United States has deceived diplomacy, but this is the E3 that has buried it,” Iraqi told the council.
“Diplomacy will never die, but it will be more difficult and complicated than ever before,” he told reporters after the Security Council meeting.
European powers offered delays in restoring sanctions for six months so that if Iran restored access to UN nuclear inspectors, it was allowed to discuss long -term agreements, and it resolved concerns about enriched uranium’s reservoir, and with the United States.
The US representative in the council said that Iran had failed to address the E3 concerns, which means that the return of sanctions was inevitable, though it had left the door open for diplomacy.
France said the return of sanctions was not an end to diplomacy.
UN sanctions will be implemented immediately on Saturday, while EU sanctions will return next week.
After US President Donald Trump terminated the deal during his first term, Iran’s economy has already been struggling with disabled sanctions since 2018.
These restrictions will ban arms ban, uranium enrichment and re -processing, ban on nuclear weapons -capable ballistic missiles, a global asset frozen and Iranian individuals and entities will be banned and its energy sector will be affected.
Addressing the UN General Assembly early Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose country bombed Iran’s nuclear installations in June, said the world should not allow Iran to rebuild its nuclear and military programs.
“We picked up a dark cloud that could claim millions and millions of lives, but women and gentlemen, we should be vigilant,” Netanyahu told the General Assembly on Friday.
He said, “We should not allow Iran to rebuild our military nuclear capabilities, Iran’s enriched uranium reserves. These reservoirs must be eliminated, and the UN Security Council sanctions must be returned.”
