It is directly associated with its children of the social and economic future of any country. If the coming generation is healthy, the future of the country is safe. However, if a country’s children suffer from malnutrition and as a result, the future of this country is neither flexible nor sustainable.
Pakistan is not exempt from this fact. According to the World Bank Group, 40 % of children under the age of five suffer from amazing growth in Pakistan. There has not been enough progress in the last 30 years to reduce this problem. Our children deserve better. We have the one that offers the elimination of children’s stunts and our future generations in Pakistan to offer a socially equitable, financially viable and environmentally sustainable future.
What is the Child Stunt?
According to the World Health Organization, poor nutrition, frequent infections and inadequate opportunities for playing and learning reduce stunting and growth in children. The first 1000 days of a child’s life (from imagination until the baby is two) are very important to prevent stunting. If stunting occurs in a child during this period, it causes adverse practical results such as poor cognition and educational performance, lost productivity and low adult wages.
Pakistan, to initiate sustainable social and economic development in the future, needs to be ensured that pregnant women, mothers and children get proper nutrition. It needs to be ensured that children do not suffer from infection again. The WHO said that every day 27 mothers and 675 newborns (less than a month) die in Pakistan.
According to the UN (UN), a lot of definition of sustainable development is a development that meets the needs of the future without compromising on the ability to meet their needs. In this way, we have to make future generations our top priority to implement sustainable development in the letter and soul in Pakistan.
If we want a future that is socially equal, financially viable and environmentally sustainable, we should give priority to our children.
Elimination of stunting
A systematic approach is needed to deal with a number of problems simultaneously. According to the Food and Agricultural Organization, launching a green revolution is a very important step to prepare twice as much food than current resources, agriculture level water is a major cause of eutrophiction. We need to protect our water reservoirs and ensure the availability of safe drinking water, as water -causing diseases are the main causes of childhood deaths and slow growth.
In addition to the growing performance in the agriculture sector, we should give priority to the promotion of mobile hospitals to prevent frequent infections in our children. These mobile hospitals should also be equipped with proper air conditioning to prevent the loss of medicines and vaccines during transport. According to the World Health Organization, when a temperature is more than +8 degrees Celsius, all vaccines suffer a very quick loss of effectiveness. In this way, ensuring stable air conditioning in mobile hospitals will protect the vaccine and other drugs, which will help us to prevent frequent infections in children across Pakistan. Finally, we have to make sure that all schools have the right playground where children can play to understand their full potential. Our preschools and schools should follow an educational model where children get equal opportunities to learn and play.
If we want a future that is socially equal, financially viable and environmentally sustainable, we should give priority to our children. We cannot appreciate our future generation and still expect sustainable development.
