Riyadh: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday signed a strategic bilateral defense agreement, promising to strengthen military cooperation and confirmed that any act of aggression against anyone would be considered an attack on both.
The agreement was signed during Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s official visit to Riyadh, where he was welcomed by the Prince Prince and Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman at Al Yamama Palace.
The joint statement said, “The two sides signed a strategic bilateral defense agreement on the basis of the formation of an extension of almost eight decades, and on the basis of the Brotherhood, Islamic solidarity and joint strategic interests.”
The agreement reflects a joint commitment to enhance bilateral security relations and contribute to regional and global peace, the statement said. Its purpose is to further promote defense cooperation and strengthen the joint barrier against any aggression. Significantly, the agreement states that any aggression against a country will be considered aggression against both.
