Madrid: United States and China officials meet the hash for long trade burns in Madrid on Sunday, which is a deadline for the Chinese short video app Techtok, and Washington demands that the G7 and European allies have imposed their purchase of Russian oil on China.
Talks in the Spanish capital have said in the fourth time in four months that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bissant and US trading representative Jameson Greer have met with Chinese deputy premiere in European cities to try to end China’s efforts to collapse.
The three officials met with China’s top trade negotiator, Li Chenging, last time in the Stockholm in July, where they agreed to make a trade agreement for 90 days, which had rapidly reduced triple -digit retaliation on both sides and rapidly reduced China to China.
Trump has approved an extension of US tariffs on Chinese goods by November 10.
Trade experts said that the talks hosted by Spain’s Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez are very likely to progress, which has tried to improve relations with Beijing in recent years.
The most potential result of Madrid negotiations is seen as another extension of a deadline for the Chinese owner of the popular teltic app, a deadline, to waste its US operations by September 17 or face a US shutdown.
A source familiar with the Trump administration’s ticket talk about the future of the Trump administration has said that an agreement was not expected, but its last date will be extended for the fourth time since Trump took office in January. Trump launched a tricktok account last month.
Tickets have not been discussed in the previous round of US trade talks in Geneva, London and Stockholm. But sources said that public involvement as a agenda on the announcement of the Treasury talks on the matter gives the Trump administration a political cover of another extension, which can offend both the Republican and Democrats in the Congress, which has called for a ticket to reduce national security threats.
Wendy Cutler, a former USTR trade negotiator in Washington and head of the Asia Society Policy Institute, said he expected more “supply” for a possible meeting between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping later this year, perhaps in the end of October in Seoul in Asia.
Kitler said they could help resolve US national security concerns about Ticotok, and to help remove sanctions on US soybeans on Chinese purchases and reduce fantasy -related revenue on Chinese goods, and to help make such meetings with Madrid discussions.
But he said it may take years to resolve basic US economic grievances about China, including its demands that China moves its economic samples to more domestic use and relies less on state subsidized exports.
“In fact, I do not think China is in any rush for an agreement where they do not get enough privileges at export control and lower prices, which are their key priorities,” said Cutler. “And I am not seeing the United States in a position to give any major privileges, unless there is any progress on its demands from China.”
The purchase of Russian oil
Treasury has said that Madrid talks will also cover US Chinese joint efforts to deal with money laundering, which is a reference to its long -standing demands that China controls Russia’s illegal shipment of technology equipment that helps its war in Ukraine.
Basant called on a group of seven allies on Friday to impose “meaningful taxes” on imports from China and India so that they can stop buying Russian oil, the move aims to bring Moscow into Ukraine peace talks by preventing its oil revenue.
The G7 finance ministers said on Friday that they discussed such measures and agreed to accelerate the debate to use frozen Russian assets to help defend Ukraine.
Basant and Greer said in a separate statement that G7 allies should join the United States in imposing taxes on Russian oil buyers.
“With a unanimous effort that will reduce Putin’s combat machine funds on the source, we can apply enough economic pressure to end unconscious killings,” Basant and Greer said, citing Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The United States has imposed an additional 25 % of Indian goods on Russian oil purchases, but so far refrained from imposing such duties on Chinese goods.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has said that Madrid’s talks will cover economic and trade issues such as US revenue, “abuse” of export controls and tricktok.
Madrid’s character
The Spanish government is seeking maximum exhibition for negotiations. Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarse will publicly salute the two delegations before the start of the negotiations at 1:50 pm, with Spain’s Foreign Ministry, which has a local time in Barak Plasu de Santa Cruz.
The Spanish government’s source said that Spain’s choice for the latest round of “fragile” negotiations was proof that Madrid was stabilizing itself as a high level and a strategic dialogue seat.
Madrid has sought to become the place of an international peace conference to resolve the Israeli Palestinian conflict.
Sources said that the Spanish government also benefits from the program to strengthen its bilateral relations with the United States after numerous engagements with the Trump administration for criticizing Israel’s criticism in Gaza, and spends 5 % of its budget on defense, along with other NATO members.
Basant himself has also criticized Sanchez, calling Beijing a “strategic partner” at the height of Trump’s tariff aggression in April, saying that close ties with Asian Dev were equivalent to “cutting his throat”.
