TOKYO: Japan on Saturday marked Prince Hashito’s incoming age with a formal ceremony at Imperial Palace, which was held against the backdrop of a crisis.
The nephew of Emperor Narohito was presented with a black silk and locker crown, a symbol of the beginning of his adult life as a member of the royal family.
“Thank you very much for giving the crown today at the age ceremony,” said Hessahato.
“I will fulfill my duties, be aware of my responsibilities as an adult member of the royal family.”
Although the emperor has a daughter.
“As a young member of the Imperial Family, I am determined to fulfill my role,” Hashito said in March.
After his father to become the Emperor, the 19 -year -old will be present at the Tokyo Palace to respect the young gods and ancestors.
Although the tradition can only run on the royal line – which is 2,600 years behind the legend – the poll has shown public support for the throne.
“It doesn’t matter to me whether a woman becomes a emperor or a man,” said Tokyo Bartnder Utah Hanago.
The 33 -year -old found that the rules of succession could have a “more flexibility”.
Japan has discussed the royal succession for decades, with a key government panel in 2005 suggested that it be transferred to the eldest child, regardless of their sex.
He paved the way for the Emperor’s daughter to reach the throne, but the next year, the birth of Husito silenced the debate.
Kenneth Rauf, director of the Japanese Studies Center at Portland State University, said that politicians are showing a slowdown in “kicking cash on the road” and delaying the solution with youthfulness.
The traditionalists have stressed that the “unmanned Imperial Line” of the man successor is the basis of Japan, and major changes will be divided into the nation.
Under the post -war constitution, the royal family has no political power.
Pressure on women
After forcing the royal daughters to leave the family after marriage, a sophisticated proposal will continue their public duties after their marriage.
In the meantime, the conservative royal family is urging them to re -use distant relatives.
But it is unclear whether men will be willing to give up their career and ancestors to continue their lineage.
Hashito said that this year he has “not yet thought deeply” about the possibility of his marriage, which may be difficult.
Historically, the women who have married Royals have faced severe pressure to produce their sons and they have become permanent articles of gossip.
Former high -flying diplomats, Empress Masaku, fought for years with stress illness after joining the house, which some people have under pressure from the boy.
Norohito’s mother Emerita Macico also suffered from stressful diseases.
Hashito’s sister Mako married her university boyfriend Kumoro.
He has faced severe tabloid reports on these claims that Kai’s families are in financial difficulties, which has caused the former princess to prepare a complex post -traumatic stress disorder. The couple left for the United States, where they recently had a child.
Other Royal Family members are regular articles online and media gossip.
Royal historian Haidya Kawanii told AFP that despite widespread public support to change the rules of succession, people’s focus is on other issues, such as increasing inflation.
“If the auxiliary (women’s emperors) auxiliary (female emperors) rise slightly high, politicians can be more serious,” said Kawanishi, an associate professor at Nagoya University.
“But when the events are over, the society, including the media, is calm and moves forward.”
