On Sunday, Indonesia reduced financial support for lawmakers, after which at least five people were killed in protests against economic difficulties, which have become angry against police.
In recent days, the largest economy in Southeast Asia was shaken in major cities when a motorcycle taxi driver was spreading footage after running a rally against the lawmakers by a police vehicle.
“The leadership of the parliament said it would cancel several policies, including the allowance money for lawmakers, and a moramemers on overseas visits,” President Prabo Sabynto said, without saying what allowance he was referring to.
The former general said that the protest should take place peacefully and if people destroyed public facilities or robbed private houses, “the state should take steps to protect its citizens”.
“The rights of a peaceful assembly should be respected and protected,” Prabu said in a speech in Jakarta. But we cannot deny that even outside the law, even against the law, even the treason and terrorism are inclined. “
Defense Minister Sajafri Sajjas Sudin later said that military and police will take “firm action” against “rioters and looting” entering private homes or state institutions.
Finance Minister Sri Mauliani Indrevati returned overnight after his comments came out, a soldier who protected his residence and a witness told AFP on Sunday.
Anger has spread to lawmakers and many have allegedly broken their homes to break their homes in recent times.
Prior to the driver’s death this week, there were many complaints of protesters, but rallies focused on the disclosure that lawmakers were getting 10 times more housing allowances in Jakarta than the minimum wage.
Rights groups said that Prabu’s speech and olive branch from Parliament did not rise to a great extent.
Amnesty’s international Indonesia executive director Usman Hameed said in a statement, “The president’s statement was irrelevant to all the complaints and aspirations that people were calling during the demonstrations.”
“The state should respond to the demands of different groups of people in which comprehensive changes in policy are underway.”
Main test
Protests have spread from Jakarta to other major cities, including Yugiaka in Java, Bandong, Simming and Surabia and Maden in northern Somatra province.

On Saturday, a local council building was burnt on the island of Lombok, while a police headquarters in the eastern Java city of Surabia caught fire.
In response to the protest, the social media app Tactok temporarily suspended its direct feature for “a few days” in Indonesia on Saturday, where it has more than 100 million users.
Some organizations were expecting a protest on Monday. An international school said its classes would be online by Tuesday and that government employees working in Jakarta were asked to work at home.
In a remarks broadcast by Broadcaster Comampas TV, a Jakarta police spokesman said that citizens will be patrolled in the capital to “protect” and feel security.
Protests are the largest and most violent of Prabov’s presidency, which is an important test in less than a year under his rule.
He promised to investigate the murder of motorcycle gig driver opium Corniawan and promised to help his family. Seven officers were detained for further investigation in a tactical van.
Analysts said his speech could provide “temporary calm effect” between the political elite but not the wider public.
“On the ground frustrations over economic difficulties and government privileges considered,” said Daddy Dento, a senior associate of the Public Policy Advisory Firm Global Council.
“Unless these deep concerns are resolved, the unrest is unlikely to completely spread the unrest in the speech.”
The crisis has forced Prabov to cancel China’s planned journey next week for a military parade in memory of the end of World War II.
Prabov has promised rapidly, state -run development, but the government budget has already faced protests against widespread deductions.
