Kiev: US President Donald Trump has said that after Russian missiles and drones collided with Kiev, he was “not happy but not surprised”, killing 21 people in early Thursday.
The deadly attack took place when the US president’s pressure for peace suffered fresh doubts, Ukraine termed it Moscow’s “diplomacy response”, and the US special envoy to Ukraine warned that the strikes had disrupted President Donald Trump’s peace efforts.
The White House press secretary Karin Levyt said that Trump was “not happy with the news, but he was not surprised,” said the two countries were in a long war.
Ukrainian President Wolodmeer Zelannsky said the strike, the second largest attack since Russia launched a complete scale in February 2022, was a response to Moscow’s diplomatic efforts to end its war.
US Special Envoy Keith Kellog commented on X: “Targets? Not in military and weapons but in residential areas – in Kiev – civilian trains blowing up, the European Union and the British Mission Council offices, and innocent civilians.”
The European Union and the United Kingdom called for Russian envoy to protest. No casualties were reported on any site.
Zillski said the strikes also damaged the Turkish Enterprise and the Embassy of Azerbaijan.
Levet told a regular briefing that Trump would have to say more about the situation later.
The Russian attacks have become deadly, and that the Ukrainian attacks did a significant damage to Russian oil refineries in August, Levet said.
“Perhaps both sides of this war are not ready to end it,” he said. “The president wants it to end, but the leaders of these two countries need it to end it and end it.”
The strikes have been less than two weeks after hosting Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit in Alaska, the US president hopes that his peace efforts will be taken forward.
“Russia chooses a ballistic instead of a negotiating table, calling for new sanctions on Russia on X, Zilnski said.” “It chooses to continue killing instead of ending the war.”
Russia said its attack has affected military industrial facilities and airports, and that Ukraine has attacked Russian targets. The Kremlin said he was still interested in achieving peace talks.
Moscow has regularly refused to target civilians. Ukrainian officials say several civilians have been killed in Russian strikes in densely populated areas in recent months, and thousands have since the beginning of the war.
During the attack on Kiev, the blasts occurred when clouds of smoke rose in the sky at night. The drones surrounded the head.
Mayor Vatley Clutsco called it one of the city’s largest attacks in recent months. Officials said at least 63 people were injured in an hour -long attack, which damaged buildings in all the districts of the city.
Throughout the country, the Ukrainian military said Russian attacks attacked 13 places. National grid operator Ukrango said energy facilities have been targeted, which has reduced electricity.
This month, despite Putin, then despite Trump’s meetings with Zilnski, a push has dropped to ending the attacks by Ukraine and his allies.
Russia has intensified many airstrikes behind the front lines on Ukrainian cities and cities, and in most parts of the East, a grinding aggression is pushing to pressure Ukraine to abandon the territory.
‘Another serious reminder’
“This is another serious reminder that is at stake,” the EU Commission’s President, Ursola Van Dare Leene, told reporters in Brussels.
Within 20 seconds of each other, two missiles were killed near the European Union office, he said.
He added that EU countries will soon bring the 19th package of sanctions against Russia and how to use the use of frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine.
“We discussed our diplomatic efforts to stop the casualties, end the Russian aggression, and guarantee real security for our people, after talking to Van Dare Lean.”
Zillski also said that he had discussed security guarantees for Ukraine with Turkish President Tape Erdogan and that he would be placed on paper next week.
British Prime Minister Kerry Starr condemned the attack, which he said was damaged by the British Council building. He wrote on the X, “Putin is killing children and ordinary citizens and sabotaging hopes of peace.”
The Ukrainian military said the air defense reduced 563 of the 600 drones launched by Russia across the country and 26 of the 31 missiles.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the Russian air defense destroyed 102 Ukrainian drones overnight in at least seven areas.
The Ukrainian drone force said it had killed Afski and Kobisiuski oil refineries as part of the attack.
