Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a warning of floods as the Pakistan Department of Department (PMD) has predicted wet weather in different areas of the province.
In his weather consultation, the provincial agency said that nowadays local rivers and rivers are likely to flourish, which is in danger of flooding in districts including Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Bonner, Kohistan and Abbottabad. He added that permanent rainfall causes land sliding in the mountainous areas, which threatens access to the road and eliminates remote communities.
He noted that the lower parts of Peshawar, Noshera and Mardan could also face urban floods.
PDMA warns that strong winds and heavy rains can damage soil houses and delicate structures such as mud houses, walls, electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels.
Local administration, police and rescue services have been placed on high alert, while public and tourists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from the river and stay updated to avoid any accident.
In the weather forecast, the PMD has also warned of widespread heavy rains, which can mobilize floods and land sliding in several parts of the country over the next 24 hours.
According to the prediction, heavy rains can flood the local rivers and rivers in Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Bonner, Kohistan, Manara, Abbottabad, Charsadda, Noshira, Sobi and Mardin.
Heavy rainfall is also expected in the Murray in the Galat region.
Meanwhile, in Dera Ismail Khan, powerful winds and heavy rains brought down trees and electric lines, which cut electricity in many areas. According to rescue officials, at least seven people were killed and dozens were injured when a roof collapsed in different areas.
