Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed his commitment to enhance relations with Bangladesh, emphasizing the joint cultural, historical and regional bonds of the countries.
During his two -day official visit to Dhaka, Dar addressed the reception held in his honor at the Pakistan High Commission on Saturday. The visit has been remarkable in 13 years as before by a Pakistani Foreign Minister in Bangladesh.
Addressing the event, Dar thanked the Bangladesh government for the invitation and hoped about the future prospects of bilateral cooperation.
“Our countries have brotherly relations in history and culture,” said Dar.
He added, “Over the past one year, our relations have made significant progress, and we look forward to deepening engagement in many fields.”
FM Dar emphasized the need for maximum cooperation in trade and education, pointing to a wide range of mutual benefit.
Highlighting regional issues, he praised the role of Bangladesh in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and called for a revival of the organization to meet the current challenges.
“For the development of the region, SAARC should make it more efficient,” he said, emphasizing the importance of working together to address shared concerns such as climate change and security risks.
The DPM also noted that the people of both countries want peace, stability and prosperity in the region, adding that Pakistan wants to engage with all stakeholders in Bangladesh.
During his two -day visit, a meeting was held with a delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat -e -Islami as part of his interaction with various political stakeholders.
In a post on X, Foreign Affairs spokesman Shafqat Ali Khan said the delegation was headed by Deputy Aamir Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Tahir.
“There were two major areas of Pakistan -Pakistan Bangladesh relations and recent progress in the region,” the FO spokesman said.
The DPM praised the courage and perseverance of JI leaders and workers, facing difficulties and difficulties.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister received a delegation of National Citizens Party (NCP) headed by Mr Akhtar Hussain.
During the debate, the DPM appreciated the vision of the NCP leadership for reforms and social justice. He emphasized the need for more interaction between the youth of Pakistan and Bangladesh.
For their part, the delegation members informed the DPM of various aspects of political mobilization across the country in 2024.

Later, DPM Dar met a delegation of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), chaired by its secretary general Mirza Fakhr Islam Alamgir.
