In some parts of Pakistan, the death toll from numerous monsoon rains and flash floods has increased to 660, with reports of casualties and widespread destruction from all provinces and regions.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) registered the highest deaths at 392, followed by Punjab with 164, with Gilgit Baltistan (GB) 32, 29 with 29 Sindh, Balochistan 20, National Dieters (Ajki) 8, and with Islamabed Capital Treasury, and with Islamabed Capital Treasury).
Among the victims, there were 394 men, 95 women, and 171 children. The total number of injured has reached 935, most of them are in Punjab (582), while 245 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 40 in Sindh, 37 in Gilgit -Baltistan, 24 in Ajak, 4, 4 in Balochistan and 3 in Islamabad.
At least 935 people were injured across the country – 582 in Punjab, 245 in KP, 40 in Sindh, 40 in GB, four in Balochistan, 24 in AJK and three in ICT.
Housing losses have also spread widely, with a total of 2,478 houses damaged. KP has reported 500 partially and 212 completely destroyed houses. In Sindh, 54 houses were partially damaged and 33 were completely damaged.
GB has recorded 229 partially and 368 are fully destroyed houses, while 567 houses in AJK were partially destroyed and 152 were completely destroyed. In the ICT, 64 homes were partially damaged and a completely destroyed.
Punjab reported 215 partial and one complete destruction. In Balochistan, 69 houses were partially damaged and 13 were completely damaged, with a total of 82.
Heavy rain, land sliding
Heavy rains caused widespread destruction in KP, including Peshawar, Mardan, Sobi and Abbottabad, after the floods and land sliding mobilized.
In Sobi, a cloud burst broke the vehicles as well as 15 people, while the water entered the houses. Two people drowned in the Colonel Sher Stream, search efforts are underway. Land sliding stopped the roads, and locals demanded the evacuation of the injured.
Mardan saw a large neighborhood sinking, in which water enters roads, houses and shops. In Abbottabad, several roads and areas were flooded, while the land sliding was hit.
In Havelian, a pickup truck was washed. In Peshawar, continuous rainfall causes drains flow, floods and school wall elimination. In Kirk, the floods cut off the contact of the land.
In the boner, schools were washed, except the scattered books and broken furniture. Rains were hindering rescue operations, with the fear that a temporary bridge could fall.
Emergency medicines were sent as only the boner recorded 217 deaths. In Pir Baba, a flood of water and stones destroyed half of the village of Bashunai, destroying houses and shops. More than 60 missing persons are feared to be buried under flood -powered stones.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the martyrs in the KP helicopter crash were sent to their hometown cities – two Lahore, one locking, one Sobi and one to Abbottabad.
Lieutenant Colonel (RTD) Shahid Sultan’s last rites were scheduled for today. The accident during the rescue mission on Friday, killing five, including two pilots and staff. The helicopter’s black box was recovered a day ago.
Heavy rains targeted Punjab
In Punjab, three hours of heavy rains submerged the lower areas of Chakwal and Kalar Kahar, which continued to trip several feeders. The water level increased in Nala Ghabir, which cut the roads, while flooding in public schools in fragrance.
In Rajanpur, the rains hit the boundary of Koh Suleiman, which resulted in a flood in the Sultan. In Rajanpur, the increasing level of water in the Indus River forced the evacuation from the Kacha areas. In Tunsa, the villages drowned, irrigation officials warned that a large wave of floods would enter Dera Ghazi Khan today.
In AJK, the lecturer at Poonch University in Rawlakot, Dr. Gul Lala, took his car into the Nala wire. Police said his vehicle was trapped before washing with strong streams. Search efforts are underway.
In the Valley Atmakum Grace, a car drowned in the Neelam River, killing five. Police said heavy rainfall was hindering works.
Relief, official response
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandpur announces donations from salaries: One month’s salary from the Chief Minister, 15 days from cabinet members, seven days from provincial lawmakers, two days from officers from Grade 17 and above, and one day to the lower staff.
He said that a special PDMA account will ensure transparency, every rupee is calculated and joint details with the public. He also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Sobi to oversee the relief operations.
The federal government ordered to reach the affected areas of KP, AJK and GB within 24 hours to monitor relief works.
Federal Minister Mossadak Malik said that the center would work without discrimination with the provincial governments and promised that all roads would be reopened within 24 hours.
He called for evacuation from areas lying on stormy water paths, emphasizing that they were not of rivers, but Torients. Minister of Information Ataullah Taraar said that the Prime Minister has declared the restoration of the flood victims a national duty, adding that the country will work together to overcome the disaster.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also promised full support of the federal government for flood -affected communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which announced a month’s salary donation from the federal cabinet to help relief efforts.
Presiding over a meeting to review the federal government’s relief efforts in the flood -hit areas of the KP, GB, and AJK, the Prime Minister directed the federal agencies to speed up efforts to help those affected by rain and floods in different districts of KP.
The Prime Minister said, “There is no federal or provincial government in this time of destruction. We must ensure the help and restoration of the affected people,” the Prime Minister added, “It is our national responsibility to help our troubled Pakistani brothers and sisters”.
