The nationwide toll continues to rise
The NDMA confirmed that 171 children, 94 women and 392 were men out of 657 deaths across the country. Only KP committed 390 deaths, including 288 men, 59 children and 43 women, who indicate the province’s unprecedented threat.
In Punjab, 164 people have been killed in rain incidents, majority children (70), followed by 63 men and 31 women. Sindh reported 28 deaths, including 14 children. In Balochistan, 20 people have been killed, most of them are children. Gilgit -Baltistan saw 32 deaths, while Azad Kashmir reported 15 and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) eight.
The NDMA said it was working with provincial authorities to intensify aid and rescue efforts in the worst affected areas.
Authority Chairman Lieutenant General Anim Haider warned the public with serious threats: “This year’s monsoon intensity is 50 percent more than 60 percent higher than last year. Two to three more monsoon mantras are expected from the first weeks of September.”
Land sliding and Flash Flood is a repeated feature of Pakistan’s monsoon season, which usually begins in June and begins the tippers by the end of September. The rains bring about three -quarters of its annual water supply to South Asia, which is important for the safety of agriculture and food, but they also leave the path of destruction.
According to Zaheer Babar, the chief meteorologist of Pakistan, the country is seeing increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather. He explained that heavy rainfall in the mountains often turns into a flood of flow, which caught residents in the lower areas away from the guard.
Babar noted that climate change is a key factor in running this volatility, but in human ways it increases its effect. Houses made with rivers, limited waterways, and garbage dumping, limit the natural flow of rain water, causing destruction.
Pakistan is one of the most climate -driven countries in the world, which is repeatedly suppressed by extreme weather. In 2022, the Monsoon flood sank into one -third of the country and took about 1,1,700 lives, emphasizing the challenge.
