WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said he agrees with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the Ukrainian war with Russian president’s Ukraine’s Woldmeer Zelinsky without waiting for Mattis’s counterpart.
The US president’s statement was broken by his first claim that the meeting between Russia and the Ukraine leader was a prerequisite for his summit with the Kremlin leader.
Trump has also warned Moscow to agree with a ceasefire in Ukraine by Friday or face fresh sanctions.
But in the Oval Office, reporters were asked if that last date remained, Trump did not respond clearly.
“It is about to reach (Putin),” Trump said. “We’re going to see what he has to say.”
Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has been pressuring Moscow to end Russia’s military attack on Ukraine.
The Kremlin said Thursday that Putin was ready to attend a summit with Trump in the “coming days”, but the Russian leader must have refused, including Zillski.
On Thursday, Zilnsky insisted that he had to join any talks.
When Trump was asked if Putin needed to meet Zilnsky before a summit, the US president said straightforward: “No, he does not do so.”
Putin has nominated the United Arab Emirates as a potential location for the summit, but Washington has not confirmed it.

The summit will be held in Geneva in June 2021 since we met Putin in Geneva from Biden to Geneva and the Russian president.
In Istanbul, Russia – three rounds of Ukrainian talks have failed to make any progress towards a ceasefire. The two sides are far away on the terms they have decided to end the dispute for more than three years.
Trump and Putin were last sitting together in 2019 at the G20 summit in Japan during Trump’s first term. He has spoken to the telephone several times since the Tikone returned to the White House this year.
“The next week is set as a target date”, adding that the two sides have agreed to a “in principle,” venue, adding that “next week,” he said.

The former GB agent, who has ruled Russia for more than 25 years, said in June that he was ready to meet Zillsky, but only during a “final phase” of negotiations to end the dispute.
In his regular address to Syria on Thursday, Zillsky said, “It is just fair that the Ukraine should participate in the talks.”
The Ukrainian leader spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Frederick Mirz and European Commission President Ursola Van Dare Leene when he called for the continent to join any possible peace talks.
