‘Meaningful dialogue’

His comments came in response to the government’s renewal offer to the former ruling party. Regarding political and public affairs, Prime Minister’s adviser Rana Sanaullah had said that the government was open and ready to discuss all political issues with the opposition.
Talking to reporters on June 26 after meeting with members of the opposition, Sanaullah said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had extended a clear and open invitation to the opposition from the floor of the House, expressing preparations for the talks.
He added, “The Prime Minister even offered to meet in the Speaker’s Chamber if the opposition was not relieved to meet him directly.” The PML -N leader believed that democracy proceeded through dialogue.
Reacting to the olive branch extended by the Prime Minister, the opposition leader in the Senate said: “If the government is serious, it should be beyond statements and engage in sincere dialogue.”
He added that the conversation should not be used to create a routine “wrong” feeling.
“The government should directly engage with PTI chairman and secretary general,” Faraz said, adding that dialogue cannot be done if the government restricts the process to political statements.
He added that the dialogue should not be held just for political optics. The PTI leader added, “The negotiations must be sincere, and it should be clear that the government is serious.”
It is important to mention here that the premiere has invited PTI to talks in efforts to reduce political tensions and promote democratic consensus.
Recently, while increasing enmity with India, Shahbaz reached Barrister Gohar to bring him and PTI into confidence with other national leaders.
