ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran have confirmed their commitment to expand bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors, when President Dr Masood Pazeshakian met his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari.
During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral relations in a wide range of areas.
Welcoming President Pazeskian, President Zardari said that Pakistan and Iran enjoy brotherly relations, which are based on common religion, culture and mutual respect. The two leaders exchanged views about major regional and international developments and emphasized the need for integrated diplomatic efforts to prevent conflicts and promote peace, security and stability in the region.
President Zardari praised Iran’s principle positions on regional issues and acknowledged Tehran’s constant support for regional cooperation.
He expressed his gratitude for Iran’s solidarity during critical moments and confirmed his commitment to work with Iran for a peaceful and prosperous future of Pakistan.
The President also thanked Syed Ali Khamenei, who illegally supported the Indian people of Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) illegally.
President Zardari strongly condemned Israeli aggression against Iran and praised the Iranian nation’s bravery and unity during the recent 12 -day war. He expressed the hope that the visit of President Dr Masood Pazeshakian would further strengthen the brotherly relations between the two countries.
President Pazeshkian thanked the leadership and the people for their support during the 12 -day war and praised Pakistan’s constructive role in supporting de -coalition, dialogue and diplomacy for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Prime Minister Shahbaz confirmed Pakistan’s support for Iran
Earlier, Iranian President Pashtakian met Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the Prime Minister’s House and discussed bilateral, regional and international interest issues.
Upon arrival at the Prime Minister’s House, President Pazeshkian was welcomed by the Prime Minister and presented the Guard of Honor, followed by a official reception ceremony. After that, the two leaders spoke in a narrow form, followed by a delegation level between the two sides.
During the talks, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as well as other key ministers and senior government officials.
Identifying the long -standing brotherhood between Pakistan and Iran, the premiere confirmed the support of the Iranian leadership, the Iranian Armed Forces and the Iranian people, who bravely fought against Israel’s aggression in a 12 -day war.
He offered condolences on the martyrdom of Iranian military officials, scientists and innocent civilians during the war and prayed for the immediate recovery of the wounded. He also thanked Iran for its strong support of Pakistan during the recent Pakistan India Stand of Off.
President Pazeshkian thanked the government and the people of Pakistan for their irreversible support for Iran during the war and said that the Iranian nation will always remember this signal.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need to further expand the current widespread bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, especially in the fields of trade, communication, culture and public relations with the people.
In this regard, the Prime Minister demanded the initial summoning of the 22nd Joint Economic Commission between Pakistan and Iran, which will be expected soon.
‘Deep roots, historical relations’
Meanwhile, Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani met with the Iranian President. Welcoming the Iranian President, Chairman Gilani remarked that the visit would further strengthen the friendship, brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Gilani congratulated President Pizoshikian on Iran’s historic success in the recent dispute with Israel.
“Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized Iran’s right to defend its defense under the UN Charter,” he said.
“Our parliament passed a resolution condemning Iran’s support and Israeli aggression. We fully support Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Gilani confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of disputes through diplomacy and dialogue, emphasizing that war is never resolved. “We expect lasting peace, stability and development in the Middle East and West Asia,” he added.
He also expressed his sincere praise for the slogan “Tashkore Pakistan” (thanks, thank you), during the address of President Peshakian to the Iranian Parliament, and termed it a proof of real and sustainable friendship between the two countries. He paid further tribute to Iran’s top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for his principle and permanent support on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
The two sides spoke extensively on enhancing bilateral relations, deepening parliamentary cooperation, and promoting trade, economic and cultural exchange.
Chairman Gilani reaffirmed his commitment to promote strong engagement at the parliamentary level, and noted the key role of the Pakistan-Iran parliamentary friendship group in pursuing legislative cooperation, permanent dialogue, and pursuing public relations with the public.
