Pakistan has won a major diplomatic and economic victory, US President Donald Trump has indicated new confidence and closely strategic relations, confirming a new trade agreement with Islamabad.
The deal includes joint efforts to develop Pakistan’s vast oil reserves, which Trump has termed “widespread”.
The announcement came when India, still roaming around to finalize a trade deal with Washington, will find itself under increasing pressure, which has stared at the heavy 25 % of its continued energy -ending relations with Russia.
“We have just signed an agreement with the country of Pakistan, under which Pakistan and the United States will work together to produce large oil reserves,” Trump wrote on social media.
“We are in the process of choosing an oil company that will guide this partnership.”
According to the Finance Ministry, the progress took place during a meeting with Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb’s US Secretary of Commerce and Trade Representative. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, and Commerce Secretary Jawad Pal were also present.
“The purpose of this agreement is to promote bilateral trade, improve market access, attract investment, and strengthen cooperation in the fields of mutual interest,” the official said.
“Under the agreement, revenue will be reduced, especially on Pakistani exports to the United States, and a new start in economic cooperation between the two countries.
“Both sides will focus on energy, minerals, information technology, cryptocurrency and other important sectors,” the statement added.
It added that the deal would help Pakistan grow trade relations with the United States and improve access to each other’s markets. “It is expected that US investment will be made in Pakistan’s infrastructure and development projects.”
Aurangzeb says the form of a wider partnership is
Finance Minister Senator Mohammad Aurangzeb told Geo News that Pakistan and the United States have agreed to advance trade and investment after a key meeting in Washington.
After talks with US trade secretary Howard looting and commercial representative Jameson Greer, Aurangzeb termed the meeting constructive, saying the two sides had finalized the trade agreement during the debate.
“This agreement reflects a wider economic and strategic partnership that is now shaping,” he said.
The Minister thanked all the people in the talks and said that the private sector has played an important role and will continue to support them in particular to reduce the trade imbalance.
According to the US Trade Representative’s Office website, according to the US Trade Representative’s Office website in 2023, the US overall goods trade trade in 2024 was estimated at $ 7.3 billion.
Dar says it’s a contract
Meanwhile, DPM Dar broke the news in a post over the X on the X, and announced: “Pakistan signed an agreement with the United States, Alhamdola.” His announcement stopped the official in Pakistan’s economic diplomacy to call an important moment.
Last week, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had said that after meeting with Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio on Friday, the United States and Pakistan were “very close” to a trade agreement.
The US Department of State and the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan, in separate statements after meeting with Rubio’s DAR, said last week that two top diplomats emphasized the importance of expanding trade and relations in mining in their debate.
“Our teams are discussing virtual meetings here in Washington, discussing virtual meetings, and a committee has now been entrusted with the Prime Minister,” Dar said last week, Dar said.
Trump also said that Washington is still talking to Pakistan’s rival India on trade since the announcement of the day that the United States will impose a 25 % tariff on goods imported from India starting Friday.
Pakistan has also recently said that it has praised Trump and Rubio’s “important role” in eliminating tensions between Pakistan and India.
Washington has repeatedly supported India -Pakistan Seas Fire on May 10 after Washington had talks with both sides. India has disagreed with Trump’s claims that the ceasefire has resulted in their intervention and trade threats.
India’s position is that New Delhi and Islamabad should not directly solve the problems directly, which does not have external involvement.
The latest increase in decades -old enmity was triggered by a deadly militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on April 22, which India had accused of Pakistan. Islamabad refused responsibility. India invaded Pakistan on May 7, and the two countries fought until the ceasefire was announced on May 10.
India slapped with 25 % tariff
Trump said on Wednesday that he is still negotiating with the United States on trade with the United States after the announcement of the day when the United States will impose a 25 % tariff on goods imported from the country starting Friday.
A 25 % tariff, as well as a fine fined by Trump in the morning social media post, will put pressure on the world’s most populous democracy.
Later in the White House, the Republican president indicated that there was a wogel room.
“Now they now have the highest taxes in the world, they are willing to cut it too much,” Trump told reporters. “Now we’re talking to India – we’ll see what happens … you will know by the end of this week.”
The data of 25 % will combine India more strictly than other major trading partners, and will threaten to end months’ talks between the two countries, which will balance Washington’s strategic partner and China.
The fine was not clear. Trump initially indicated that it was buying Russian weapons and oils for India, and that it had non -financial trade barriers.
When asked about the fines in the White House, he said it was partly due to trade issues and partially due to India’s involvement in the BRICS Group of Development countries, which he described as enmity with the United States.
Trump said in July that the United States would impose another 10 % tariff on any country that would integrate itself with BRICS “anti -American policies”.
India’s announcement was made when countries face Friday’s deadline so that they can reach deals at mutual rates or slap Trump’s tariffs on them. The White House said that Trump on Wednesday cited national security, signed an announcement on the order of 50 % of the revenue on some copper imports.
The new US tax on imports from India will be higher than in many other countries, which recently contracts with the Trump administration. Vietnam’s tariff is 20 % and Indonesia is set at 19 %, while Levy is 15 % for Japan and the European Union.
“This is a huge blow to Indian exporters, especially in fields like textile, shoes and furniture, because 25 % tariffs will make them non -serious against Vietnam and China rivals,” said SC Ralhan, president of the Federation of Indian Export Organization.
