UN: Through the French recognition of the Palestinian state, UN members meet next week to breathe life to resolve the two states as Israel, which is not expected to be absent, pressing their war in Gaza.
A few days before the conference on the upbringing of Israeli and Palestinian states on July 28-30, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France would formally recognize Palestine in September.
Richard Guan, an international crisis group analyst, said his announcement would “breathe a new life at a conference that seems to be the destiny of being irrelevant.”
“Macron’s announcement changes the game. Other participants will scrape to decide whether they should also announce their intention to recognize Palestine.”
According to the AFP Database, at least 142 of the 193 member states of the United Nations – including France – now recognize the Palestinian state, which the Palestinian leadership announced in deportation in 1988.
In 1947, a resolution of the UN General Assembly decided on the partition of Palestine, then under a British mandate, two independent states – one Jew and the other Arab.
Next year, the state of Israel was announced, and for decades, the majority of UN member states have supported the idea of resolving the two states: Israeli and Palestinians, in which they live together calmly and securely.
But after more than 21 months of war in Gaza, the ongoing expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, and Israeli senior officials announced a design to connect the occupied territory, fearing that the Palestinian state could be geographically impossible.
The war in Gaza began after the deadly Hamas attack on Israel, which responded to a massive military response, claiming thousands of Palestinian lives.
The New York Conference is the answer to this crisis, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa and several dozen ministers from around the world expect to attend.
Consensus for a pursuing plan
This meeting comes when the two states are resolved “there is a higher risk than it is more risky than [but] Even more important than ever, because we see very clearly that there is no alternative, “said a French diplomatic source.
Beyond the convenience of the situation to recognize the Palestinian state, there will be three other focus in this meeting – reform of the Palestinian Authority, disarmed Hamas and excluding it from the Palestinian public life and normalizing relations with Israel through Arab states.
The diplomatic source has warned that no new deals are expected to be announced next week.
Prior to the conference, which was delayed since June, the UK said it would not unilaterally recognize the Palestinian state and wait for a “wider plan” for peace in the region.
Macron has not yet agreed to Germany to follow and recognize the Palestinian state in the short term.
The Palestinian ambassador to Riyadh Mansoor called for “courage” by the participants, saying, “The conference provides a unique opportunity to transform international law and international consensus into a achievement plan and to once and to end the conflict,” called for “Palestinian Ambassador”.
Israel and the United States will not attend the meeting.
According to the embassy spokesman Jonathan Haroonov, the Israeli ambassador to the UN Danny Denon has announced that Israel will not participate in the conference, which does not first focus on condemning Hamas and returning all other hostages.
Since international pressure is increasing on Israel to end the two -year war in Gaza, humanitarian devastation in the devastating coastal region will dominate the speeches of representatives from more than 100 countries when they go to Podium on Monday to Wednesday.
Govin said he was expected to “strongly criticize Israel”.
