Gilgit -Baltistan government spokesman Phaseullah Ferrak told Geo News on Wednesday that all 250 tourists trapped on Babusar Road have been rescued and shifted to Chala, while a search operation is still underway to find the missing persons.
He confirmed that both Silk Road and Babusar Road are closed for traffic due to the recent floods. “Rescue operation on Babusar Road has been completed, while search operation is underway to track the missing persons,” he said.
Ferrq added that those trapped on the Desai have also been evacuated to safer places.
On Monday, a flash flood that was spread due to mass rains in Qatar district of GB killed at least five people, including four tourists and 15 more.
Several tourists were also trapped and several others were injured after a cloud collided with a famous tourist destination in Qatar district.
Tourists have been strictly advised to refrain from traveling to GB unless the situation returns to normal. He added that Naran and Kaghan are currently completely closed, while the silk route is open only to small vehicles.
