ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with the President of the UN General Assembly, Flemon Yang in New York on Monday and raised concerns over India’s defective drive, enmity, and anti -Pakistan prices.
He also highlighted India’s violations of the Indus Wates Agreement (IWT), and warned that such measures threaten regional peace and stability.
The two leaders discussed a wide range of international affairs, including the Middle East situation, the progress made in Iran and Afghanistan, and the ongoing efforts to promote world peace.
The two leaders also talked about the important topics of the UN agenda, such as efforts to promote sustainable development.
The Minister confirmed Pakistan’s permanent commitment to multilateral and the UN’s important role in international affairs. He called for strengthening global governance and reforming the United Nations, which meets the expectations of the entire international community.
The DPM praised the leadership of the President of the UN General Assembly, which pushed the agreement for the future and the UN80 step, and emphasized the need for harmony between these efforts to ensure a more effective, comprehensive and responsible UN, which has been tackled by our time to face the challenges of our time.
The issue of reform of the Security Council, including the need to make the council more democratic and effective was also discussed.
He called for immediate international attention to India’s actions, including its illegal actions in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and its support for terrorism against Pakistan through its proxies.
Dar further emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution of all disputes between Pakistan and India through dialogue through international law, UNSC resolutions and a UN charter.
The President of the UN General Assembly confirmed his commitment to advance peace, development and participation in the framework of the General Assembly. He presented his vision to promote the effective multilateral multilateral and UN centrality to serve the entire humanity.
Dar emphasized debt -rid of debt for developing countries
Earlier, DPM addressed the high -level political forum on sustainable development in the United Nations and said that developing countries need to get rid of debt and grant -based resources to achieve sustainable development.
He said that Pakistan is firmly committed to the agenda of 2030 and has taken steps to advance comprehensive development, strengthen climate flexibility and implement economic reforms.
The Deputy Prime Minister pointed to the global food crisis and climate change as two of the two biggest challenges facing today’s world.
He said that the Uran Pakistan program is an important step for national development, while Danish schools are being set up for backward children, including certified persons through NADRA.
He added that Pakistan is also supporting the middle class through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), and ensures that no one is left behind.
Dar added that the country aims to get 60 % of its energy from renewable sources by 2030. Recharge is helping to increase climate flexibility like Pakistan and Zinda Indus. Digital Youth Hub and Danish School Networks are developing to empower the youth.
He said economic reforms are helping to strengthen the economy and make Pakistan attractive to invest. Dar highlighted the role of the Council (SIFC), a special investment facility in attracting foreign investment in the priority sectors.
Stressing on the need for global financial reforms, Dar said that fundamental changes in the international financial system are necessary to achieve sustainable development goals (SDG).
He added that the 80th anniversary of the United Nations is an opportunity to make this organization stronger and more responsible for today’s challenges.
