New York: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stressed that sustainable development in developing countries depends on debt -based relief and grant -based financing.
Dar was addressing a high -level political forum on sustainable development in the United Nations.
He said that Pakistan is firmly committed to the agenda of 2030 and has taken steps to advance comprehensive development, strengthen climate flexibility and implement economic reforms.
The Deputy Prime Minister pointed to the global food crisis and climate change as two of the two biggest challenges facing today’s world.
He said that the Uran Pakistan program is an important step for national development, while Danish schools are being set up for backward children, including certified persons through NADRA.
He added that Pakistan is also supporting the middle class through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), and ensures that no one is left behind.
Dar added that the country aims to get 60 % of its energy from renewable sources by 2030. Recharge is helping to increase climate flexibility like Pakistan and Zinda Indus. Digital Youth Hub and Danish School Networks are developing to empower the youth.
He said economic reforms are helping to strengthen the economy and make Pakistan attractive to invest. Dar highlighted the role of the Council (SIFC), a special investment facility in attracting foreign investment in the priority sectors.
Stressing on the need for global financial reforms, Dar said that fundamental changes in the international financial system are necessary to achieve sustainable development goals (SDG).
He added that the 80th anniversary of the United Nations is an opportunity to make this organization stronger and more responsible for today’s challenges.
Gaza, Kashmir discussed
Later, Deputy Prime Minister Dar met with UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres at UN headquarters.
During the meeting, the DPM confirmed Pakistan’s atmosphere and commitment to multilateral and the UN’s central role in dealing with the most important global challenges.
The DPM assured UNSG to focus on resolving the dispute, promoting sustainable development and maintaining the UN’s role in maintaining the basic rights of all people around the world.
Guterres praised Pakistan’s presence and actions in UNSC.
The DPM emphasized that Pakistan is fully committed to the goals and principles of the UN Charter, especially the need to advance peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
He added that the peaceful settlement of multilateral and conflicts and under the presidency of the UN Security Council for this month, a high level debate on peaceful settlement and peaceful settlement, Pakistan’s commitment to multi -faceted and promoting peace.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized on Pakistan, especially the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, violation of the Indus Wates Agreement (IWT) and violation of external patronage terrorism in Pakistan and important national and regional importance for terrorism.

DPM and UNSG also exchanged views about the need to promote privileged financing for developed countries, especially for development and climate goals, increased international support for global debt getting rid of loan and liquidity solutions.
The DPM emphasized that the Secretary -General’s “UN80” move offered an important opportunity to strengthen the three pillars of the United Nations for international peace and security, sustainable development and human rights worldwide.
The DPM welcomed the appointment of a UN special envoy to Islamophobia and agreed to support global efforts to tackle religious intolerance.
