KARACHI: Online video streaming platform YouTube has updated its monetization policy, but experts say its impact will not be as serious as it has made on the social media platform.
According to YouTube, it is a minor refreshing in its ‘reused content’ policy to clarify that redeems reused or ‘excessively developed’ materials. The name of this policy has also been changed. Earlier, known as ‘reused material’, will now be called ‘unhealthy material’.
The news was blown up in proportion to running a social media marketing agency and managing several YouTube channels. “The content that YouTube already wants to discourage does not meet the standard of its manipulation under existing policies, as the platform only promotes creators who produce original and authentic materials.”
“Some creators are concerned that this refreshment will limit their ability to monitor their channels, but not. There are many YouTube channels that spread fake or unhealthy news or use inappropriate language.
YouTube has uploaded a brief update to its YouTube help page, stating that the platform has updated its partner program Manatization policies on July 15, 2025 to clarify its position on unhealthy content. Although the platform always requires real and authentic uploads, the purpose of the new guidelines is to better identify the widely manufactured and repeated materials that do not meet the standard of the monetization.
Many YouTube channels use clips for their videos or shorts from other YouTube channels, said Anusha Asif, a digital market and content expert. “What is going to happen now is that such accounts will not be able to monitor their content.” But, he added that the real creators will also feel the heat of the new policy. “If the clips or content of a original channel are widely developed, the channel itself can fall under the YouTube check and it can be flagged. It can lead to shutdown or restriction.”
Although Labb believed that such strikes were going to be overturned and that the original creators could restore their accounts, Anusha argued that the restored channels would take some time to achieve the ranking they had enjoyed before.
When it comes to the news that the platform is eliminating its YPP updates, many people initially feared that it would deny all the AI-inflated repeated content, which often includes the same as ‘AI slip’. For example, some channels repeatedly post AI inflicing videos that are almost the same, often copied from similar creators.
“While AI videos are still allowed under new rules, the crackdown will be against the Deepfax or other inappropriate content created by the crackdown AI,” the Labeb said. He added that since creators move to use AI tools for their content, it is important that they make appropriate revelations about the use of new technology to avoid the spread of misleading materials.
Tech expert Shah Rukh Malik said “As a consumer, I think [restricting AI-generated content] Great Certainly, there was a time when these videos were entertaining but now there’s a lot of them.
But, “as a creator of a content,” he said, “This is limited to my powers. Many people have earned a lot of money from videos that will now be banned. Now they have to work hard in a competitive place. Besides, such a new war is similar to that.
