LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday introduced a three-level departmental department for the 2025-26 season, which will continue from August 2025 to May 2026.
The reform system will showcase more than 40 departments from across Pakistan, which has been ranked in Grade I, Grade II, and the newly introduced grade III.
The new framework, which indicates the expansion of the previous two -level system, aims to inject maximum competition and establish clear promotion and relief through the country’s departmental cricket.
With a three -level system, the purpose of the PCB is to expand the foundation of competitive cricket and provide various players from different formats to provide diverse experiences of the match, including first class, list A, three -day, and two -day competitions.
In Grade III, teams will compete in the two -day matches in March and April 2026. These teams have been selected on the basis of their stance in the Trophy Grade II tournament of the President of 2024-25.
The top two grade III parties will be promoted, while the two -party II teams below will be sent to the third level.
Based on their performance last season, a total of 12 teams have qualified for the President’s Trophy Grade II. Of these, 14 teams will join with two Religious parties from Grade I.
The PCB departments are also encouraging women’s domestic cricket structure to support and expand the women’s teams. It is expected that more details will be announced soon.
Abdullah Khurram Niazi, director of domestic cricket operations, emphasized the importance of departmental cricket in the country’s domestic structure, which highlighted its permanent role in raising and promoting cricketing capabilities.
“Departmental cricket has become the bedside of our domestic cricket season directly for the third year. The PCB is proud and praises the efforts of more than 40 departments that help Pakistan cricket by investing in talent and participating in domestic cricket season.
“We have encouraged the departmental cricket to divide the cricket into three levels and create a very competitive structure for all teams, which will definitely enhance the quality of our domestic cricket.
“I look forward to more than 400 players who represent different departments in my domestic season deservingly because we try to improve and improve cricket on the domestic front.”
Grade II teams:
Ahmed Glass, Ghani Institute, JDW Sugar Mills, Kingsman, MIT Solutions, PAF, PHA Rawalpindi, Port Qasim, Railway, Sardar Group, Vital Tea, Wing 999 Sports as well as HEC and Ashal Associates (Grade-I).
The President’s Trophy Grade II, which is a three -day tournament, will continue from March to May 2026. The winner will be promoted and the list of tournaments will be given next season.
The PCB also plans to introduce 50 overs for Grade II teams next year.
The domestic season will begin in November and December with the 50 overs of the president’s cup, after the imprisoned trophy. 31 matches will be presented in a program on this grade I.
Participants of the President’s Cup (Grade -1):
Ghani Glass, Khan Research Laboratories, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, Pakistan Television, Sehir Associates, State Bank of Pakistan, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, and Water and Power Development Authority.
After the one -day event, the same teams will participate in the President’s Trophy (First Class) tournament, the end of 29 matches ending in January 2026.
The lower two teams will be replaced by the top two teams in the next season, which will ensure a competitive pipeline at all levels.
