QUETTA: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi said on Monday that a new move has been launched under the law and Justice Commission (LJCP) of Pakistan, which has provided legal representation to provide legal representation at all levels of the state from the economic courts to the superior court for poor legalization.
Justice Yahya Afridi, who is also the Chairman of the LJCP, chaired a high level meeting in Quetta to review the institutional links between the Balochistan Bar Association and the LJCP to strengthen the supply of justice.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Justice Roszi Khan. Welcoming the participants, the CJP acknowledged their important role in the justice system. He informed the participants that they visited remote districts of every province and made a difference in harmony between the Bar Association and the Law and Justice Commission as the commission had funds available but they were not properly used for the development of the district judiciary.
Since the capacity of outreach in the LJCP is limited, the Commission has decided to post a senior representative in each province who will sit in the High Court. These representatives will serve as a front desk and maintain contact with the District Bar Associations, identify local priority areas and monitor the ongoing steps of the justice sector at the grassroots level. The bars can present their development projects to the district development committees.
In addition, representatives of the federal and provincial development departments have also been taken to the board to ensure rapid implementation to prevent resources. Emphasizing the importance of harmony, the CJP called on the bar representatives to make their bar association sensitive to these developments and actively engage in these reform measures.
He further directed that all support and facilities extended to the Bar Association by the federal government to avoid duplication and the better cost of the money spent must be prepared.
The CJP also called on the provincial line departments to actively engage with the commission’s residential secretary for timely and effective implementation of district -level projects. He noted with concern over the lack of infrastructure, including non -contrasting power supply and digital integration in low -developed districts, and emphasized the need for target intervention in these areas.
He also announced that a new move has been launched under the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, which has provided assistance to the faulty legislatures to seek legal representation services from the magistrate courts to the Supreme Court at all levels of the judiciary.
Up to Rs 50,000 will be paid by the District Legal Empowerment Committees. The purpose is to ensure equal access to justice for all citizens.
Bars can nominate eligible lawyers for this purpose to send district judges, high courts and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Moreover, the CJP encouraged the bar representatives to ensure that their members benefit from the ongoing legal education (CLE) programs presented by the Federal Judicial Academy.
