ISLAMABAD: In a key move toward tax reform, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will start accepting easy digital tax declarations from salaried people from July 15, which aims to smooth compliance and encourage wider participation in the tax net.
The development was shared during a high -level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday to review the progress on the FBR digitalization, including the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) diagnostic system and other structural reforms.
According to a government briefing, salaried taxpayers will benefit the most from new digital farms, which are available in comprehensive, user -friendly and Urdu. Urdu language return will be formally available by July 30 for salaries.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister said that increasing the tax base and reducing the tax burden on the poor are among the government’s top priorities.
In connection with the availability of simple tax declarations in Urdu, he said that a helpline should be set up to assist in the process of submitting tax declarations and digital invoices should also be launched in Urdu. “In tax reform, the common man should focus on the convenience of the common man,” he added.
Premier directed that third -party verification be ensured for all FBR reforms to maintain transparency. He said that for the convenience of the public, the tax declarations have been made extremely easy by connecting the digital, comprehensive and central database.
Prime Minister Shahbaz directed that a public awareness campaign should be launched on the ease of tax declarations so that more and more people could file their return under the new system.
He also praised Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, the economic team, the chairman of the FBR, and his teams, saying that the positive results of tax reforms were the result of their tireless efforts.
“For the first time in the history of the country, the implementation of the AI -based tax diagnostic system is a major achievement, and the FBR’s actions are commendable,” he said.
He also directed that small and medium -sized businesses should be given special assistance in joining the digital invoicing system.
Meanwhile, participants were briefed on digital invoices, e -bulletts, easy tax declarations, AI -based diagnostic systems, establishment of a central command and control center, and cargo tracking system progress.
It was reported that bid for the FBR command and control unit would be completed soon, and the system would be fully enabled by September. It will not only provide central data but will also help in decision making.
The meeting was also informed about the AI -based diagnostic system. Before the arrival of the ships, traders are now allowed to submit the goods. Under this, they will get clear duties and complete exemptions on taxes. With this system, the percentage of advanced equipment announcements is expected to be more than 3 % to 95 %. This will allow containers to deliver the containers with advance declarations directly from the port to the factories.
Regarding digital invoices, the meeting was told that now both large and small businesses will need to release receipts at sales through the FBR’s online system. About 20,000 businesses are expected to be included in the system in the coming months. In just one month, 8,000 invoices were released by this system of Rs 11.6 billion.
The system includes taxpayers’ portal and monitoring dashboard. It was common that the business could be included in the free price system through Pral (Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited). Traders are also being trained. Once fully implemented, sales tax declarations will not be required to be submitted separately, as all transactions will be automatically recorded in the system.
In addition, the HS code of the 8 -digit internationally recognized will help eliminate fake and flying receipts. Digital invoicing will also make it easier to evaluate the performance of the sales tax system. Business training sessions are being organized to make the system efficient.
The meeting was also informed about the progress of the cargo tracking system and the e -bullet system.
It was explained that the system would allow the real -time monitoring of the movement of goods and tax payment. AI -based diagnosis will also be possible through this, which will make tax enforcement more efficient and efficient.
