Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilal Bhutto-Raitari clearly dismissed the allegations of patronage of Indian terrorist groups, saying that the country had successfully cleared the FATF process.
In an interview with Indian journalist Kiran Thapar, Bilawal said: “Pakistan does not allow happiness […] The groups you have mentioned or any group outside Pakistan but also inside Pakistan to attack terrorists. “
Highlighting the losses of the country during the war on terror, the PPP lawmaker said that the world is well aware that Pakistan has faced terrorism for the past several decades.
“Pakistan is fighting and fighting the biggest internal war against terrorism. We lost 92,000 lives completely. Just last year, we lost more than 1,200 civilians in more than 200 different terrorist attacks.”
“Only terrorist attacks are taking place only this year, if they continue at this pace, this year will be the most bloody year in Pakistan’s history.”
Recalling the murder of his mother and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal said: “I too am a victim of terrorism. I feel the pain of the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. I understand the trauma that their families can think more than that.”
He also explained about Pakistan’s ongoing war to root out the threat, saying: “Pakistan went through a process where we not only took military action against terrorist groups inside Pakistan.”
He said that during the last Zardari era, Pakistan conducted an operation in South Waziristan after the assassination of Benzir, and the next government did another operation in North Waziristan.
‘Hard’ Fatf process
“We have implemented a national action plan for India to take our steps against concern groups. Recently, we are going through a tough FATF. [Financial Action Task Force] Process. “
He added that the international community is well aware and has endorsed Pakistan’s actions against terrorist groups.
Bilawal added that FATF is a very rigorous process that has a complete monitoring method, so it is not that you can hide it.
Criticizing the Indian allegations, Bilawal said that the Pahalgam attack was immediately. Later, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif publicly said that Islamabad “is willing to be part of any neutral international investigation into the incident, our hands are clean.”
“We had such trust. It was the Indian government that rejected the offer. To date, the Indian government has not shared with Pakistan or the international community.”
Pakistan and India were engaged in a military confrontation in May, which was illegally occupied by the April Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Pakistan has refused to be involved in the attack.
Bilawal also led a parliamentary delegation, who visited the global capital on a mission to end Indian propaganda as a result of the recent dispute between the two countries.
Nuclear weapons rivals set fire to missiles, drones and artillery during a four-day battle that is the worst in decades-before agreeing to a war.
In response to Indian aggression, Pakistan’s armed forces launched a massive retaliation, called “Operation Bonyan Um-Marsus”, and targeted several Indian military targets in several areas.
After Washington spoke with the two sides, US President Donald Trump first announced the ceasefire on social media, but India is different from Trump’s claims that his intervention and endeavor to end trade negotiations.
However, Pakistan has recognized Trump’s efforts last month, citing its role in eliminating tensions between Pakistan and India, and formally recommended them for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
