WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said Thursday that a phone call with Vladimir Putin earlier in the day has not made any progress on efforts to end the war in Ukraine, while a Kremlin assistant said the Russian president reiterated that the Moscow would resolve the issue.
According to a redout provided by Putin’s Assistant Yuri Ishkov, the two leaders did not talk about the recent interval of some US weapons delivery to Kiev for nearly hours long.
US efforts to end the Russian war in Ukraine through diplomacy have largely halted, and Trump has faced growing calls – including some Republicans – to increase pressure on Putin.
Ukrainian officials said that within a few hours of the end of the call, the Russian drone strike caught fire in an apartment building in the northern suburbs of Kiev, Ukrainian officials said, adding little change in the pace of the conflict.
In Kiev, Reuters witnesses reported the blasts and set fire to a heavy machine gun while the air defense units were fighting a drone over the capital, while Russian shelling killed five people in the eastern part of the country.
Before leaving for an electoral -style program in Iowa, Trump told reporters in a brief commentary on an airbase outside Washington, “I didn’t make any progress with him at all.”
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Wolodmeer Zillsky told reporters in Denmark earlier this day that he hoped that he would talk to Trump about the ongoing hiatus in some weapons shipment on Friday, which was revealed earlier this week.
Talking to Trump, reporters, when he left Washington for Iowa, “we have not completely stopped the flow of weapons, but has accused our predecessor, who has been sending so much weapons to Biden that it threatens to weaken US defense.
He said, “We are giving weapons, but we have given a lot of weapons. But we are giving weapons. And we are working with them and trying to help them, but we do not know. You know, Biden has made our whole country evacuated,” he said.
Sources told Reuters that the United States earlier told Reuters, as Ukraine faces Russian targets in Russian targets and rapidly repeated attacks on civilian targets.
Putin has emphasized for his part, emphasizing that he will stop his attack only when the “root reasons” of the conflict are focused – on the issue of NATO expansion and Western support for Russian short -hand NATO, which includes rejecting any Ukrainian concept.
NATO leaders have said that Russian leaders are also angry to establish maximum control over political decisions made in Kiev and other Eastern European capitals.
Ukraine was caught off -guard from a US weapons shipment and has caused widespread confusion about Trump’s current ideas about the conflict, saying it only last week looking at his statement that he would try to liberate the Patriot missile defense system for Kiev’s use.
Ukrainian leaders on Wednesday called on Kiev to identify the importance of military aid from Washington, and be careful that the US weapons delivery would weaken Ukraine’s ability to defend the Russian air strikes and the intensity of the battlefield.
Reuters reported on Wednesday that the Pentagon’s move means a decrease in supply of Patriot Defense missiles, which relies on eliminating Ukraine rapidly -driven ballistic missiles.
When Russia was open to talk to the United States, any peace talks between Moscow and Kiev needed, said Kremlin’s assistant, Ishtakov, said the Kremlin’s assistant, said.
This comment has come to the fore between some indications that Moscow is trying to avoid a trilateral form for any possible peace talks. Ukrainian officials say the Russians asked US diplomats to leave the room during such a meeting in Istanbul in early June.
Ishkov said Trump and Putin did not talk about the meeting.
