Geneva: Pakistan appealed to the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Friday to immediately interfere with Iran’s growing conflict, and called for promoting diplomacy and maintaining its mandate by stopping a wider regional war.
“This is an important moment.”
The emergency meeting was convened by Guyana – which is presided over by the Council for June – and Pakistan was supported between others during the ongoing war between Iran and Israel.
Since Friday, Israel has launched widespread attacks on Iran, targeting military bases, nuclear places and residential areas across the country.
The attacks have killed at least 224 people in the Islamic Republic, including top military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians. According to officials, Iran retaliated with drone and missile barrages killing at least 25 people in Israel.
Iran does not recognize Israel, and has long been accused of killing its scientists as well as killing its nuclear facilities.
In today’s debate, Ambassador Asim said that the ongoing Israeli strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities and other targets have put regional tensions “growing” and threatening peace and security.
“Dialogue and diplomacy, with full ban on international law and the principles of the UN Charter, has been the only viable way to resolve the crisis,” he said: “Military sources and oppression cannot bring lasting settlement.”
Sadly, he said that Israeli illegal strikes against Iran came to light during a severe diplomatic engagement on Iran’s nuclear issue, and emphasized that these illegal actions should not be allowed to end the dialogue.
The Pakistani envoy said, “The parties should be on the path of rapid dialogue, which is the only viable means of reaching a sustainable agreement with regard to the Iranian nuclear program,” said the Pakistani envoy, noting the US consent to keep the door for dialogue.
“We hope diplomatic efforts and engagements will result in fruit.”
Initially, the Pakistani envoy condemned the Israeli attacks on June 13, saying the strikes violated Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “Pakistan strongly condemns Israeli and illegal aggression by Israel,” he said. We express solidarity with the people of Iran. “
“We offer our sincere condolences and sympathies to the brothers of Iran’s brother -in -law as a result of these indiscriminate attacks,” he said.
He added, “The latest crisis has promoted the current tension in the region created by Israeli brutal attacks on Gaza, which has resulted in the destruction of an unprecedented humanitarian sympathy for innocent Palestinians, as well as repeated violations of its international law in Syria.”
He said that attacks against nuclear facilities for peaceful purposes violated international law, UN Charter, IAEA law (International Atomic Energy Agency) and the relevant resolutions of the IAEA General Conference on the matter.
During this debate, Ambassador Iftikar called on the Council to clearly reject and condemn Israeli attacks on Iran from June 13. Play a proper role in eliminating hostility and promoting a comprehensive ceasefire and promoting de de Scility and before the situation is out of control and threatening the peace and stability of the entire region. Clearly condemn the targeting of nuclear facilities safe from IAEA and demand dialogue and diplomacy to promote peaceful settlement.
The Pakistani envoy concluded, “diplomacy must give a chance.”
‘Give peace a chance’
Opening the debate, UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres warned that Iran’s Israeli conflict could “fire fire that no one could control” and called for a dispute to both sides and potential parties to “provide peace.”
Representatives from Israel and Iran later dealt with angry accusations at the UN Security Council meeting, Israel did not vow to stop their attacks.
Meanwhile, the head of the United Nations Nuclear Watchdog Agency has warned that the attack on nuclear facilities could result in radioactive release within and ahead of the state boundaries, “and maximum ban was demanded.
“There were moments when the instructions taken, not only would the fate of the nations, but would potentially take the form of our collective future,” Guterres said.
“This is a moment,” he said, adding that the dispute should not be allowed to expand.
“As a controversial parties, potential parties of the conflict, and representatives of the international community, I have a simple and clear message: Give peace,” said Guterres.
The Security Council meeting was held when the European Foreign Ministers met their Iranian counterpart on Friday, hoping that despite Israel’s little possibility of ending its attacks, preparations for Tehran’s new nuclear deal will be investigated.
Israel has repeatedly bombed nuclear targets in Iran, which it views as the components of a weapons program, and Iran has fired missiles and drones on Israel because there is no sign of any foreign strategy in a week -old air war.
The White House said Thursday that US President Donald Trump will decide whether to join Israel or not.
Iran says its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes. He said on Friday that he would not discuss the future of the program during Israeli rule, which is widely assumed to own nuclear weapons. Israel neither confirms nor denies it.
Iran’s UN ambassador to Iran Aamir Saeed Irwani said that Iran would continue to defend its Israeli attacks, while his Israeli counterpart Danny Dennan expressed his commitment: “We will not stop. Unless Iran’s nuclear threat ends, it is not unless our people are safe and their war machine is safe.”
The United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Durwati Camley, said the United States “stands with Israel and supports its actions against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.”
“We can no longer ignore that Iran needs to acquire nuclear weapons,” he said.
China and Russia immediately demanded de Scction.
Russia’s UN ambassador, Waseli Nabinzia, said Israel’s actions threaten third countries to pull international conflicts and conflicts.
He said that targeting what he called Iran’s peaceful civilian nuclear facilities “is responsible for destroying nuclear destruction.”
