LOS ANGELES/WASHINGTON: The US military will temporarily deploy 700 Marines to Los Angeles unless more soldiers from the National Guard can reach, and President Donald Trump’s response to his strict immigration policies will indicate another increase.
On the fourth day of the protest in Los Angeles on Monday, hundreds of protesters gathered outside a federal detention center where migrants were held.
The US military said a battalion would be sent to help protect federal property and personnel until more troops of the National Guard could reach the scene. For now, the Trump administration is not requesting a rebellion act, which, according to an American official, on condition of anonymity to the soldiers, will allow directly participating in urban law enforcement agencies.
California on Monday filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration to stop the deployment of National Guard and Marines, and argued that it violated federal law and state sovereignty. Shortly afterwards, California Governor Gavin Newsom said he was told that Following Trump’s announcement on Saturday, more than 2,000 more national guards in Los Angeles are deploying more troops that the first 2,000 troops will be deployed.
Tensions are increasing on Saturday after Trump activated the National Guard on Saturday after the spread of streets in response to immigration raids in southern California. This is the biggest flashpoint ever in the Trump administration’s illegal attempt to deport immigrants living in the country.
Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonal said his department had not received any formal information that the Marines would arrive in the city. He said the deployment “offers an important logistics and operational challenge.”
Trump said on Monday that he felt that he had no choice but to order a deployment to prevent violence from being out of control.
The protests have so far damaged some property, including several self -driving Vemo vehicles, which were flared up on Sunday evening. The Los Angeles Police Department said five officers were seriously injured. Police said some protesters threw solids and bottles at the officers.
Democrats said the decision to deploy Trump’s military force to manage the protests is equivalent to misuse of presidential power.
The Newsom’s press office posted on the X, “The growing level is completely unnecessary, unpredictable, and unprecedented.”
Trump supported support for a advice from his border Czar Tom Hoon that news should be arrested for the possible obstacle to his administration’s immigration implementation measures. Trump told reporters, “If I were Tom, I would do it. I think it’s great.”
Paint balls, eggs
In Los Angeles, several hundred protesters chanted slogans “free” outside the federal detention facility where migrants have been held. National Guard soldiers and police formed a frame around the building.
“What is happening is the effect of every American, everyone who wants to be free, regardless of what is happening,” said 42 -year -old Marzeta Sererto, 42 -year -old immigrants, 42 -year -old Marzeta Sererto, 42 -year -old Marzita Sererto, 42, said 42 -year -old Marzita Serito, 42, said 42 -year -old Marzita Sererto, 42, said 42 -year -old Marzita Sererto, 42, said every American, everyone who wants to be free, regardless of that her family lives here.
Some people in the crowd hit a supporter of Trump at the scene and threw eggs, while others fired a car with a car in the federal building.
According to local media, protests also spread in at least nine US cities on Monday, including New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco.
The Trump administration has argued that the Democratic President Joe Biden’s administration has allowed many immigrants to enter the country and are wrongly interfering in efforts to deport democratic cities like Los Angeles. Trump has promised to deport a record number of people in the country illegally and close the US Mexico border, which has set a goal of at least 3,000 daily arrests.
US Marines have been deployed domestic for major disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and attacks on September 11, 2001, but it is extremely low for US troops to be used for domestic policing.
Trump can deploy Marines under the commander -in chief under some legal provisions or under his authority. Without requesting the Rebellion Act, Marines, such as the National Guard, will still be prevented from implementing civil laws directly and it will probably be limited to the protection of federal personnel and property.
The last time the army was used directly for police action under the uprising act, in 1992, when the California governor asked President George HW Bush to help respond to the Los Angeles riots after being acquitted by police officers who defeated the black motorcycle Rodney King.
More than 50 people were killed in the 1992 riots, causing a loss of about $ 1 billion in six days.
The federal law allows the president to appoint the National Guard if the nation is attacked, if there is a “threat to rebellion or rebellion”, or the president “is unable to make regular forces to enforce the laws of the United States.”
