US President Donald Trump on Thursday called on Chinese President Xi Jinping over a long wait phone when leaders of the world’s two largest economies tried to avoid trade war.
Trump said the call came to a “very positive conclusion” and he agreed to meet personally – but Beijing issued a more silent red out saying that XI talked about the need for “correcting the course”.
The call – was publicly announced after Trump returned to power in January – after Beijing and Washington accused each other of risking a trade war in Geneva.
“This call lasted for almost an hour and a half,” Trump said on the truth, and as a result, there was a very positive conclusion for the two countries. “
Trump added, “President XI invited the first lady and me to meet China, and I took revenge on it. As the presidents of two great countries, this is something we both are waiting for.”
Trump said he would later announce the time and place of “meeting soon”.
However, the two leaders did not discuss the attack on Russia’s Ukraine, Trump has long said that despite US hopes, Beijing could affect Moscow to end the war.
“The conversation was almost focused on the trade,” he said, adding that he hopes the problems of the extraordinary land used in tech products have been solved.
The relations between the superpowers rivals Beijing and Washington have been full since Trump introduced a worldwide sweeping tariff in April, which targeted China the most.
On one occasion, the United States targeted China with 145 % additional levies on its luggage as both sides engaged in an increase in tight tate. China’s response measures on US goods reached 125 %.
Trump recently accused Wednesday of “a dealing deal with” on Wednesday.
Chinese state media said that Trump had requested a call. The White House was not immediately confirmed.
Correcting the course
