Defense: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met with Tajik President Emimali Rehman on Thursday and discussed bilateral cooperation in several routes, including economic, political, energy, defense, security and regional relations.
During the bilateral meeting, he agreed to actively gain new paths for cooperation – with focus on promoting investment opportunities, enhancing educational links, indicating cultural exchange, advancing information technology and strengthening people to contact people.
Earlier, when Qasr-e-Millat arrived, the President welcomed the Prime Minister and the delegation.
At the invitation of the Tajikistan government, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif arrived here to attend an international high-level conference on the Glacier Protection (ICGP) held on May 29-31, 2025.
He was accompanied by a high -level delegation, which consisted of Prime Minister Atula Tarar, Assistant Assistant to Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatimi, and senior officials. Upon arriving in Dushanbe, he was received by Tajik Prime Minister Khar Rasulzoda.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister and the Tajik President organized various aspects of bilateral cooperation, as well as a deep and widespread debate covering regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During the debates, he fond of signing a historic strategic partnership agreement during the Prime Minister’s visit to Dushanbe in July 2024 – which laid a strong foundation for strengthening bilateral relations and pursuing common interests.
Confirming the brotherly relations between the two countries marked by shared history, culture and geography, the leaders expressed satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation and pledged to expand strategic cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries and people to a new level.
On CASA-1000, leaders confirmed their commitment to its position as an important plan for regional integration. On May 15, 2025, welcoming the Casa -1000 Inter Government Council in Dussein, the Prime Minister assured joint commitment to the initial operationalization.
Regarding economic cooperation, the two leaders, recognizing the unused capabilities in bilateral trade, identified the importance of seeking new ways of cooperation in December 2024 during the 7th meeting on trade, economic and scientific technical cooperation in Islamabad.
He also agreed to effectively exploit the current institutional framework, including 12 joint working groups (JWG), to further enhance the cooperation in the two countries – especially oil and gas and energy sectors.
He took good note of the growing bilateral cooperation in the defense and security sector and reaffirmed his commitment to further enhance his commitment to overcome the security challenges facing both countries. He emphasized the need to increase cooperation in counter -terrorism, fighting cross -border crimes, and confronting human and drug trafficking.
Leaders also exchanged views on regional and global geographical political progress. He emphasized the importance of working together to promote peace, stability and economic development in the region.
On the peaceful resolution of the Tajik Kyrgyz border dispute, the Prime Minister awarded the President on this milestone and praised the President’s wisdom and wisdom in resolving the issue with peaceful sources. The Prime Minister expressed hope that this historic development will begin a new era of cooperation and progress in the region.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the cooperation in multilateral phones – including the UN, the OIC, the SCO and the ECO – and confirmed their commitment to continue their cooperation on global and regional issues of common interest.
Prime Minister – Confirming Pakistan’s historic and cordial relations with Tajikistan – for mutual benefits, the ongoing structural and multilateral engagement with Tajikistan indicates the importance of Pakistan. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthen relations with the Central Asian region. On this purpose, he highlighted the China -Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the luncheon of Pakistan’s contact with the region.
The Prime Minister also briefed the President about the latest situation in the South Asian region.
The Prime Minister emphasized that our region could not afford India’s irresponsible and illegal actions from May 7, 2025, which is equivalent to the UN Charter and the war and violation of international law.
Prime Minister Shahbaz called on the international community to hold India accountable, and reiterated that Pakistan wants peace, but if challenged, it will defend its sovereignty with full commitment.
He also made it clear that according to the UN Security Council resolutions, the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is fundamental to seek lasting peace in the region.
In response, President Emimali said that as a tough friend of Pakistan, he too was very upset over the events of May, adding that he always promotes peace and stability in the region. He added that he was very impressed with the remarkable leadership of the Prime Minister, which is important for restoring peace and security in the region.
President Emimali Rehman confirmed his desire to intensify bilateral cooperation in all sectors of Tajikistan, and described Pakistan as a reliable partner.
Note regular high -level exchange, he highlighted the importance of close cooperation in science and technology, agriculture, industry, hydro power generation, and tourism sectors.
The Pakistani Premier praised Tajik’s leadership role in water diplomacy and congratulated the President of Tajikistan on a successful organization of international programs, including an international high-level conference on the Glaciers’ Protection (ICGP) on May 29-31, 2025 in Tashanbe.
Prime Minister Shahbaz invited President Rehman a pleasant invitation for an official visit to Islamabad to continue the strategic dialogue and deepen multilateral partnerships.
Tajik President Emomali Rahman also hosted a special reception in honor of Prime Minister Shahbaz.
