Ottawa: More than 17,000 people were being evacuated on Wednesday in Western Monitoba province, Canada, as the region suffered the worst start of forest fires in the years.
“The Monitoba government has announced an emergency across the province due to forest fire situation,” Monitoba Prime Minister Wab Cano told a news conference.
“This is the biggest evacuation that Monitoba must have seen in most people’s living memories,” he said.
Keno said he asked Prime Minister Mark Carney to send the Canadian army to help with evacuation and firefighting.
Keno said the military aircraft would be “mainly” to help go out of the northern communities of remote remote communities, along with additional firefighting resources.
The evacuation also included the Town of Flynn Flun, where the first 5,000 residents were told to be ready to run on a moment’s notice as a large forest fire named a fantasy role in a 1905 paperback novel in the city of Mining.
Residents of several other remote cities and indigenous communities have also been asked to leave.
Most of the evacuation is expected to be transported to Winpig, the capital of Manatoba.
‘Flames 121 feet high’
The evacuation, Shrill Mathews, told AFP that the Wild Fire had surrounded Sheridan, its small town, northeast of Flynn Flynn.
The owner of the fishing lodge said, “That’s too much.” “It was a lot of smoking. You could see the fire four or five kilometers away and move fast.”
“Flames were shooting at 121 feet high, and firefighters couldn’t come so close to the fire to do something.”
Elseda alerta told the Public Broadcaster CBC that she was “having a big problem” because she and her family prepared to leave Flynn, where she had been living for three years.
“Especially for someone who lived in a big city (before), who never had to empty, is definitely a nerve disorder,” he said.
He said that the only highway outside Flynn Flynn is jammed with traffic and that petrol has been gone to local petrol stations.
“We have basically collected all our essential things, important documents, medicines and, you know, things that will be needed,” he said.
“We are just going to make our way and expect the best.”
‘To change the climate’
Premier Cano said the widespread fire was the cause of the alarm.
“For the first time, it is not a fire in a region, we have a fire in every region,” said Cano.
Twenty -two forest fires were active in the province.
Monitoba Wild Fire Service’s Kirsten Hord said only 200,000 hectares of forests have been incited in the past month, or the annual average has been increased three times the last five years.
“So far this year, Canada has the highest fire activity in Manitoba, which has been a long time for a long time, hot and dry conditions,” he said.
Climate change has increased the effects of extreme weather events in Canada.
About 1,000 residents of Lin Lake and Marseille Columb First Nation in Monitoba and 4,000 people from the northern village of Pelican Noroz and other communities in neighboring Saskyan have already been evacuated earlier this week.
The firefighter was also seriously injured when he was hit by a falling tree while fighting the cat. Keno said he was being treated at the hospital.
Monitoba Premier said emergency shelters are being set up and that companies and communities across the province have been asked to “open their doors” for homeless residents.
Earlier this month, two residents of the small community of the Lock Doubont died after being trapped in a large forest fire northeast of Winpig.
In 2023, the worst forest fire season in the country’s history, only recorded fatalities were in firefighters.
There are currently 134 active fires in Canada, including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskichovan, Monitoba and Ontario. Half is considered out of control.
