The federal government on Tuesday promoted Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal to ensure the defense of the army and to defeat the enemy through his brave leadership and extraordinary strategies during Operation Bonn Um-Maros.
The decision was made during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
The government approved the promotion of Koz General Munir to the post of Field Marshal to ensure the security of the country and defeat the enemy through the best strategy and brave leadership during ‘Operation Bonn Um-Marsus’.
During the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shahbaz congratulated the entire Pakistani nation on the success of “Operation Bonyan Um-Marsos” and thwarting the enemy’s blasphemous designs, read a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
He added, “Coas General Munir led the Pakistan Army with exemplary courage and determination and coordinated the war strategies and efforts of the armed forces in a comprehensive way.”
The Cabinet meeting paid tribute to the Army Chief for his extraordinary strategy, which led to the success of Pakistan in Mark-Haq.
Read the statement, “In recognition of his brilliant military leadership, courage and bravery, Pakistan has approved the proposal to promote General Syed Asim Munir in the post of Field Marshal, while ensuring Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and brave defense against the enemy.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz met with President Useh Ali Zardari and took him in confidence in the decision.
The Cabinet also unanimously decided to continue services after Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sudhu’s term expired.
The federal cabinet has also decided that the officers and soldiers of Pakistan Armed Forces, Ghazi, Martyrs, and civilians from different sectors will be awarded the higher government awards in recognition of their valuable services during Operation Bonyan Um-Murus.
Field Marshal is the highest position in the Pakistan Army, which has been placed above the rank of General.
It is the five -star position in recognition of extraordinary and exemplary military leadership.
In a statement, the army chief thanked Almighty for receiving the honor of Field Marshal.
“I dedicate this honor to the entire nation, the armed forces of Pakistan, especially the civil and military shutda [martyrs] And Ghazio, “ISPR quoted the Army Chief as saying.
He also expressed his gratitude to the President, the Prime Minister and the cabinet for losing their confidence.
Field Marshal added, “This honor is the confidence of the nation for which millions of Ammes have sacrificed themselves.”
The Army Chief added: “This is not an individual honor but a honor for the Pakistani Armed Forces and the entire nation.”
It is important to mention here that India launched indiscriminate attacks on several Pakistani cities during the night of May 6 and 7.
In response, Pakistan’s Armed Forces launched a massive retaliation, called “Operation Bonyan Um-Marsos”, and on May 10 targeted several Indian military targets in several areas.
Pakistan dropped its six fighter jets, including three Rafael, and dozens of drones. At least 87 hours later, the war between the two nuclear armed countries ended May 10 with a ceasefire agreement by the United States.
According to the ISPR, during the recent military confrontation, Indian strikes, including 13 personnel and 40 civilians, were involved in a total of 53 people, including 13 people.
Last month’s attack in the IIOJK launched a military clash between the two countries in which 26 tourists were killed, in which India accused of attacking without any evidence.

In his separate statements, President Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz, Federal Ministers, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and the services heads congratulated the Army Chief on the development of the field of Field Marshal.
In a statement issued by the President’s House, President Zardari praised Field Marshal Munir for his role in reacting to the unfounded Indian aggression and thwarting the enemy’s malicious intentions.
The president said, “Field marshals recognize your services in defense of homeland.”
He highlighted that Field Marshal Munir and Pakistan Armed Forces deserve praise for their effective response to Indian attacks. The President remarked that under the leadership of the Field Marshal, the Pakistan Armed Forces crushed the enemy’s arrogance with an excellent strategic reaction to Indian aggression.
He said, the whole nation acknowledged their contribution to the protection of national security and sovereignty and the fight against terrorism.
Congratulating Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sudhu on his extension of his term, the President said that due to the successful military strategy of the Air Chief, Pakistan gave the enemy a crushing response.
The President added that the PAF, led by Air Chief Marshal Sudhu, decisively defeated the Indian Air Force.
For his share, Prime Minister Shahbaz congratulated the wells on the occasion of Field Marshal.
The Prime Minister added that during the ‘War of truth’, the army chief thwarted the enemy’s blasphemous designs through his leadership and professionalism in Operation Bonn Um-Marsus.
He highlighted that Field Marshal has been honored by Allah Almighty with extraordinary qualities, and his courage and wisdom played a key role in the success of Operation Bonian Um Marsos.
Premier remarked, “The Army Chief has been promoted to the rank of Field Marshal in recognition of his invaluable services in defense of Homeland and to take decisive steps to restore the balance of power in the region through Operation Bonan Um-Marsos.”
He said that from the Army Chief to every soldier who bravely responded to the enemy’s aggression on the borders during the “war of truth”, all served bravely in defense of the nation.
He added, “I, together with the whole nation, the army chief Syed Asim Munir, who, under his command, takes a lot of pride on the brave fighters of our armed forces and the martyrs and their families.”
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahar Shamshad Mirza extended his heartfelt congratulations and feliatations to Marshal Munir from Field Marshal Munir, for which he holds his famous position.
The CJCSC praised the extraordinary leadership of the COAS, irrational dedication, and prominent services for the nation, especially during the recently successfully executed operation “Bonyan Um-Marsos”.
