ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday called on India to engage in meaningful dialogue with Pakistan to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, emphasizing that sustainable peace in South Asia is not possible without solving the problems for a long time.

He reminded that throughout the situation, the military leadership was in touch with him. He added that within a few hours, Pakistan gave India a proper response which was a surprise to friends and enemies.
He said that after Pakistan’s successful attack on India, the Army Chief proceeded to accept the offer of a ceasefire offered by India.
He remarked, “India spent billions of dollars to store weapons to impose its territorial domination and they were confident of its superiority in the battlefield, but Pakistan crushed its false falsehood.”
Prime Minister Shahbaz also said that throughout the situation, the nation from Peshawar to Karachi was united and with the armed forces standing from the shoulder.
He emphasized, “Now we have to gain a great position in the words of the United Nations. Now the nation has to make economic development by utilizing the resources available. Pakistan has immense potential and human resources.”
He thanked Brother and friendly countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United States, to support Pakistan.
He also thanked US President Donald Trump for his efforts to restore peace in the region.
He said that Pakistan could not successfully defend itself without the professionalism and preparation of the Armed Forces.
Prime Minister visits Shaheed Squadron Leader’s residence
Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz visited the residence of Shaheed Squadron leader Usman Yusuf, who was martyred during the recent Marka-Haq (the Battle of Right) against India.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Coas Munir and the Prime Minister were accompanied by the Prime Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
He offered condolences to the father of the martyr PAF officer and other members of the family. He offered the victory and prayed for an increase in the ranks of the martyr.
Prime Minister Shahbaz also expressed his sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for his power to bear the loss. The Prime Minister paid tribute to the martyr’s services and his sacrifice for the country during the defense of the country.
He also visited the Joint Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalpindi and inquired about the health of the injured soldiers and civilians during the dispute.
