Istanbul: Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a low -level delegation for peace talks with Ukraine in Turkey on Thursday. President Putin eliminated the challenge of KYEF personally to meet President Zillski.
Putin’s nine show eliminates the possibility of negotiations-which will be the first after the first weeks of the war. Russia said he would be in Istanbul in the second half of the day, but Turkey said no meeting had been scheduled yet.
Zlinski, who arrived in Ankara, the Turkish capital, described the Russian lineup-Putin, his foreign minister and his foreign policy adviser-as “decorative”. He said that Ukraine would decide on its next move to talks with Russia after meeting Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.
“We need to understand what level the Russian delegation is, and what mandate they have and can they make a decision,” he said.
Asked about what message Putin would have his message, Zillsky told reporters at the airport: “I am here. I think this is a clear message.”
Russia said his team is in Istanbul and is ready for serious work, and has accused Ukraine of trying to “show a show” around the negotiations.
The two sides have been wrestling on the logistics of ceasefire and peace talks for months, while US President Donald Trump tries to show that he is serious about trying to eliminate what he calls this stupid war.
Hundreds of thousands have been killed and injured in Europe’s most deadly conflict since World War II. Washington has repeatedly threatened to abandon its mediation efforts unless there is a clear progress.
Russia said Thursday that its forces had occupied two more settlements in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. A spokesman for Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov last year reminded reporters about his comments that the Ukraine was “shortening” in the absence of an agreement to stop the fighting.
Trump’s pressure
There was confusion in Istanbul, where the Russians specified the Russians as the location of the conversation.
Zlinski presented Putin earlier this week by questioning whether he was brave enough to show. The Kremlin says Putin – who is also at risk of “severe European sanctions to” collapse “Russia’s economy – does not respond to ultimatics.
Fighting parties last talked to face in front of the Istanbul-March 2022, Putin just weeks after sending his troops to Ukraine.
At a meeting of the Oval Office in February, after a heavy inclination on Ukraine and a collision with Zelinski, Trump has shown growing impatience with Putin in recent weeks and threatened additional sanctions to affect Russian trade.
The US president, who is visiting three Middle Eastern countries, said on Thursday that he would go to Turkey on Friday if it was “appropriate”.
“I just hope that Russia and Ukraine are able to do something,” he said.
Not the key player
Addressing a NATO meeting in Turkey, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that there is no military solution to the conflict, and Trump is open to “practically any procedure” that will lead to peace.
If the dialogue goes ahead, they have to pay attention to many issues between the two sides.
Zillski has immediately supported a 30 -day ceasefire, but Putin has said he wants to start the first dialogue, which can be discussed on the details of such a war.
Under the control of Russian forces near Ukraine’s fifth, Putin remains on his long -standing demands from Kiev to surge the area, abandon the ambitions of NATO membership and become a neutral country.
Ukraine describes these terms as the capital, and is looking for future security guarantees from world powers, especially the United States.
The Russian delegation is headed by Presidential Advisor Vladimir Mednski and includes Deputy Minister of Defense, Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of Military Intelligence.
The Kremlin said Putin had met with ministers, military commanders and spy chiefs to discuss the upcoming talks.
In a March 2022 talks in Istanbul, a source on the Ukrainian team said that Mednski – who had also guided the Russian team at the time – had no strong mandate to make decisions.
Sources said, “People who are really sitting at the table do not have to be an important player.”
French Foreign Minister Jean Naveed Beirut said that Zillski had come to Turkey and showed his good faith, but there was a “empty chair” where Putin should be sitting.
“Putin is stopping and clearly does not want to enter these peace talks, even when President Trump expressed his availability and desire to simplify the talks,” he said.
Estonia, a member of a European Union and NATO, said Putin was sending a lower level team to “slapping face”.
Highlighting the level of tension between Russia and the US -led coalition, Estonia said a Russian fighter jet had “violated the NATO territory” because Estonia’s Navy tried to detain Russia -affiliated oil tanker under British sanctions.
