Russian President Vladimir Putin’s order imposed Thursday for a three -day war with Ukraine on Thursday, the Kremlin said that Kiev’s preparations for peace would be “investigated” but Ukraine has targeted a sarcastic.
It is not immediately clear whether the ceasefire is being witnessed by both sides, even with global leaders – including Xi Jinping of China, Luiz Infiko Lola Da Silva, Brazil’s Alexander Vokk – for the end of World War II in Moscow.
Putin unilaterally ordered the move with the Moscow’s Victory Day Parade on Friday. Ukraine has never agreed to the proposal, rejected it as a theater and instead called for a 30 -day ceasefire.
US President Donald Trump has tried to end Moscow’s three -year -old military attack on Ukraine since the inauguration in January, but has failed to reduce enmity among enemies.
Hours before the Putin order force entered the force, Moscow and Kiev launched airstrikes, which led to the closure of the airport in Russia and at least two were killed in Ukraine.
The Kremlin has said that Russian forces will respect Putin’s order for the holiday period, but if Ukraine fires, they will respond “immediately”.
Ukrainian President Wolodmeer Zillsky renewed his call for a 30 -day ceasefire in his address to his Syria on Wednesday.
“We are not withdrawing the proposal, which can give diplomacy a chance, but the world is not seeing any response from Russia,” he said.
Direct negotiations
Putin announced the war last month as a “humanitarian swelling” indicator, followed by US pressure to stop its three -year attack on Ukraine.
The Russian leader rejected US Ukraine’s joint proposal for unconditional ceasefire in March, and then offered only a thin contribution to Trump’s peace efforts.
Ukraine has said that it is unaware that Russia will follow the war and will accuse Moscow of hundreds of violations during the previous, 30 -hour ceasefire ordered by Putin for Easter by Putin.
Russia, which launched a full -fledged military invasion of Ukraine in 2022, fired 100 drones and several ballistic missiles at his neighbor between Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, killing a mother and his son, Kiev said.
Despite the efforts of US President Donald Trump, the White House has been disappointed with the lack of progress towards a peace deal between the fighters.
US Vice President JD Venus on Wednesday called for the two direct talks. “We think it is probably impossible for us to be fully mediated without at least some direct dialogue between the two,” he said.
Peaceful environment
Russia has identified a great parade of military equipment on Lal Square as well as Putin’s address on the day of the victory.
More than 20 world leaders were expected to be expected in Moscow for the May 9 parade.
“Our military and special services are taking all necessary steps to ensure that the great victory is celebrated in a quiet, stable and peaceful environment,” said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin.
He also said that the authorities had jammed internet contacts before the parade cited Kiev’s threat.
“We need to keep this dangerous neighbor in mind,” Peskov said, citing Ukraine.
“As long as the guests are here, by May 10, we need to be prepared for sanctions,” he said, demanding understanding the muscles.
Kremlin forces have taken the fifth of Ukraine and this spring has been targeted by the country in connection with deadly attacks on urban areas.
‘Nothing frightens us’
From outside Moscow, the Russians visited the capital with a heavy policy for the parade.
“We are from Rostov on Dawn,” said 22 -year -old student Valeria Paulova. Nothing fears us. ” The southern city of Ukraine acts as a command and logistics center for aggression and is regularly targeted.
“It’s very calm here,” he added.
But scenes at airports in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities were more chaotic.
According to Moscow, Ukraine launched a barrage of drones in Russia at the beginning of the day, forcing airports to stop traffic, 60,000 people saw their flights interrupted.
Russia’s Tour Operators Association of Tour Operators said Kiev’s drone strikes disrupted some 350 flights on Tuesday and Wednesday. Social media videos show people sleeping on the floor and airports, with rows of more than a dozen aircraft standing in the queue.
In February 2022, Russia has been forced to close Ukraine’s airspace since its aggressive start.
