Singapore: Singapore’s ruling party has won tremendous success in the general election, official results were revealed in early Sunday, which gave Prime Minister Lawrence Wang a clear mandate which he sought from voters.
The Action Party, who ruled the long -standing Wong -ruling people, crossed the doorstep of 49 seats so that a majority government was formed in an unmarried legislative legislature with 97 seats in the state of the state, in which the PAP had won all seats except 10 seats in the counting of samples.
“We are grateful for your strong mandate again, and we will respect it,” Wang, smiling at a large scale, said immediately after winning his ward, thanked the supporters who gathered at Yu Chu Kong Stadium.
Wong had faced his first major test against the opposition, and he urged voters to present a strong demonstration of support because they visit the business -based nation through the global economic uncertainty brought by US taxes.
The PAP, which has attracted the Southeast Asian country to prosperity, while criticizing the dissent is being criticized, it is expected that it will always maintain a clear majority in the legislature.
However, over the past years, its dominance has been rapidly challenged by more volatility.
After leading the Cawad Task Force of Singapore, Wang took office last year with his predecessor Li Hussein Long, who was the son of founder Premier Lee Koan Yu, who ruled the island state after his bitter breakup with Malaysia in 1965.
Wang warned that if US President Donald Trump had announced, he would affect Singapore and then stop for most countries, and need to be open and competitive to counter their effects.
He has also said that this may require a major organization of Singapore’s economy.
“Prime Minister Lawrence Wang and former Prime Minister Li Hussein Long will have a lot of help in the hot seats, and the fear of Trump’s prices should be worried,” former editor -in -chief PN Bilji told AFP.
– Scandals –
The majority of the great PAP has become a routine in Singapore’s political scenario.
But in joining the latest elections, the PAP has faced numerous disputes.
Lee Hussein Long is locked in a bitter dispute with his brother Li Hussein Yang, which strongly supports the opposition and has sought political asylum in the UK.
There are a long -running family row centers about Lee Hussein Yang’s allegations that his brother Lee Kan is trying to stop the demolition of a family bungalow to benefit the heritage.
Last year, former Minister of Transport S. Asveen was thrown in jail for a graft and in 2023, Parliament’s speaker and a lawmaker resigned on the “inappropriate” issue.
At the same time, young voters demonstrated rapidly for alternative political voices.
A voter told AFP that he was influenced by “fresh and interesting” new candidates across the political arena.
“Whether or not they are selected or not, I hope we will see and listen to some of them, and know them better,” said 40 -year -old Shi’ite Liang.
In 2020, the country’s largest opposition group, the Workers Party (WP), took the historic advantage, which put 10 of the 93 seats at stake – before it had a significant jump from four seats.
The WP – which has become politically smart – is hoping that the pace will be prepared with a slate of charismatic candidates, including a top lawyer.
The party dragged a large number of crowds in its rallies during the campaign, just as in the previous elections, but in the past, the past has been rarely translated into the election victory.
While campaigning for the cost of life problems, WP candidates said that more opposition MPs need to deprive the pop of political “empty checks” so that they want.
However, the PAP pointed to the billions of dollars in Singapore, which has spent only to help citizens deal with the growing costs, including cash handouts and grocery vouchers.
