Pakistan has strongly rejected the India’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Agreement after the Phalgam attack, killing 26 tourists, which surprised New Delhi to try to incite the “hydro war” without any evidence.
New Delhi has linked Islamabad to the attack without any evidence and has taken action to suspend the Indus Waters Agreement, cancel Pakistanis’ visas, to reduce relations to reduce relations, including closing the border between others.
Pakistan has responded to India’s actions and warned of suspending the Samala agreement besides closing airspace for Indian flights. Islamabad has denied involvement in the attack and has offered to participate in a reliable and transparent investigation.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has offered to participate in any neutral, transparent and reliable investigation of the incident, condemning the unfortunate attack.
Speaking to Geo News on Sunday, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said he believed that India would not achieve anything by violating the Indus Waters Agreement as it had international guarantee.
The World Bank discussed the Indus Waters Agreement, which was signed by India and Pakistan in 1960. By suspending the agreement, India can limit the flow of rivers at some point, and it has eliminated the country’s water source for irrigation and human use, identified.
He added, “Where will India take water, it cannot divert it nor stop it.” The Defense Minister noted that India did not respond to an offer to an international investigation into the Phalgam incident, adding that Islamabad was ready to take part in a transparent investigation.
He said that the whole of Pakistan is united with its armed forces and will give the Modi government a strong response as we have responded in the Pulwama incident.
He warned that the conflict between the two nuclear powers would be a significant threat to regional and world peace.
However, “If things increase, no one can stop us, he warned, if Modi chooses to increase the tension, we will pursue it all over the house.”
He said that Modi is known to spread false propaganda, and repeat the same tactics used during Paloma. However, Pakistan is strong enough to respond effectively.
Separately, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar informed foreign journalists about India’s provocative actions, saying that Pakistan has the ability to effectively respond to any Indian corruption with full force and power, as has been shown in the past.
He condemned India’s unilateral action to suspend the Indus Waters Agreement, saying, “I think the whole incident was done for a very valuable resource these days and it is water.”
He described the suspension of the deal as a “ignorant and childish” act from India.
Referring to the principles of public international law, he said, “When there are two parties in the agreement and they agree with mutual consent … this agreement cannot be canceled, suspended and unilaterally abolished. It has to be mutually.”
He warned that targeting Pakistan’s water, which is important for its agricultural economy, would be “anger process, an unfair and illegal action”.
“The Prime Minister and the National Security Committee have made it quite clear that any attempt to divert or stop Pakistan’s water will be answered with full force and power,” Tarar said.
The Minister warned India against misinterpreting Pakistan’s position as a weakness.
Referring to Pakistan’s reaction after Paloma, he said, “Let me reiterate that they do not take our words as a weakness. Pakistan has always defended itself and will continue.”
Referring to the February 2019 Paloma incident, the Minister said that India has “experienced our patience in the past and we have spent it through flying colors and India has been regretted.”
Referring to the attack on the Pakistani High Commission in London, Tarar said, “It is India’s extremist ideology that indicates its people to attack our foreign missions.” India said that India was already considered about the Pahalgam incident, its purpose was to accuse Pakistan.
He said that all India’s allegations against Pakistan have no meaning. He said that the Pahalgam area is more than 150 km away from the Line of Control, and India has not provided any only evidence to support its arguments.
