LAHORE: As the tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad increased after the Pahalgam attack, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Saturday that incompetence in accepting India’s economic progress was giving its dissatisfaction.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi warned India against suppressing the rights of Pakistan and said that every citizen will fight for the last breath to defend the country’s sovereignty and independence.
He also reaffirmed the allegations of linking Pakistan to the recent Pahlagam attack, reiterating that Pakistan is a peaceful nation and demands a neutral and transparent investigation into the incident.
He added, “Pakistan is ready to fully cooperate with any neutral party, as we try to expose the real criminals behind the attack.”
The warning is after a deadly gun attack in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where 26 tourists were shot dead at a natural location in Pahalgam area. The victims included a Nepalese National.
Following the attack, India took unilateral and serious measures against Pakistan, suspended the water partnership agreement, crossed the central land border with Pakistan, reduce diplomatic relations and withdraw visas.
Pakistan, in response to this, ordered the deportation of Indian diplomats and military advisers, except the Sikh pilgrims, canceled visas for Indian nationals – and stopped crossing the main border.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan was open for any “neutral and transparent” investigation of the Pahalgam attack in India -occupied Kashmir.
Talking to reporters today, Naqvi said that Pakistan has solid evidence that India is involved in terrorist acts not only within Pakistan but also in other countries, such as Canada and the United States.
He revealed, “We have solid evidence that India is trying serious action against us. In the last three days, seven IEDs were seized by Indian -backed elements for attacks in various Pakistani cities.”
He noted that whenever foreign honorees go to their country to divert attention, India intends such events. “They are trying to surrender terrorism against Pakistan, but the world can see through its designs,” he added.
He emphasized that Pakistan has always handled the situation with great patience and maturity but it will not compromise on its sovereignty, regional integrity or freedom. “We will expose this play in front of the world,” he said.
Highlighting Pakistan’s intelligence efforts, Naqvi said that his agencies successfully thwarted India’s recent terrorist plans. “India wanted to see bloodshed in Pakistan. Their plan was to create chaos through blasts in different cities, but our agencies thwarted these conspiracies.”
On the situation that occupied the Indian illegally Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Minister confirmed Pakistan’s principle stance and said that the dispute would have to be resolved according to UN resolutions. “We will never retreat from our positions about Kashmir,” he said.
The Minister pointed out that the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Indian agency RAW are working as “a power”, and that Pakistan was aware of the meetings of BLA leaders with Indian handlers in third countries.
“Whether it is a waste or any other incident, we demand that the real criminals be exposed,” he said. Pakistan is ready for a neutral, transparent investigation, and we will fully cooperate. “
