Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif would head the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting tomorrow to “appropriate reaction” to New Delhi’s actions after the attack in the Pahalgam area of Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir illegally.
At least 26 people were killed and 17 others were injured in the IIOJ attack when gunmen attacked a famous tourist. Earlier today, India took several steps against Pakistan, including suspension of Sindh Water Treaty and a ban on Pakistani nationals from entering its area.
Asif said in a statement, “A meeting of the National Security Committee will be held under the chair of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
‘False flag operation’
In a separate statement today, the Defense Minister said that Pakistan condemns terrorism wherever it happens in the world and India should investigate the Pahalgam incident as the allegations leveled will not refrain from their responsibility.
Talking to a private news channel, Asif said, “India’s accusation against Pakistan is inappropriate for the Phalgam incident.” He added that Pakistan is the most affected country with terrorism and has been facing this threat for decades.
He questioned how Pakistan can promote terrorism, it is due to its own danger.
“There should be no ambiguity that we strongly condemn terrorism,” said Defense Cazar. However, he added that the “false flag operation” cannot be rejected.
Meanwhile, Asif also made it clear that Pakistan was in a position to give India a proper response. [in case of any misadventure].
The Minister cited the Indian pilot arrested after being shot dead by an Indian Mug 21 during Operation Swift retaliation in February 2019, saying, “People remember what happened to Abinwond.”
He also accused New Delhi of supporting terrorists in Balochistan and “shelter and providing medical care to separatists”.
Asif added that the evidence proved contact with India’s illegal militants, the Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The Minister added that several Indian consulates in Afghanistan are facilitating terrorism in Pakistan.
Attack ‘Architerate’ by Indian Army: Muslim League (N) Senator
Senator Irfan Siddiqui, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and the head of the party’s parliamentary group in the Senate strongly condemned the recent incident in the IIOJK, calling it a wrong flag operation by the Indian Army.
Talking to the media after the launch of a book held at Alhamra Hall today, Siddiqui said that India has a long history of presenting such incidents to other countries for malpractice, especially during the visits of foreign honorees.
He said, “India has forcibly occupied the land of Kashmiris and has been involved in their killings. In addition, it is permanently engaged in terrorist acts inside Pakistan,” he said, adding that Pakistani authorities have arrested many Indian spies in the past years.
An estimated 500,000 troops are permanently deployed in the area. In recent years, authorities have promoted the mountainous region as a holiday destination, both in the winter to avoid skiing and the heat of the summer somewhere in India.
In 2024, about 3.5 million tourists visited Kashmir, mostly domestic pilgrims.
