KARACHI: Under the crisp of Massachusetts, the running community of Pakistan draws its name in the Boston Marathon -stricken heritage, and it has combined with cultural pride.
In the 129th edition of the world’s oldest annual marathon, Amin Makati and Sara Lodhi emerged as Pakistan’s fastest men and female finals, while two other runners-felic Shafi and Danish Elahi set a unique world record by setting history.
The Boston marathon, which is famous for its punishment altitude, especially for the famous heart breaks, examines the most experienced runners. Nevertheless, Amin Mukti, a 23 -year -old Karachi, who qualified on time, conquered the course in 2 hours, 48 minutes and 47 seconds, which is the fastest by any Pakistani this year.
Macauetti posted on Instagram after the race, “Heart Break Hill couldn’t break my heart.” “Boston Marathon experienced my limits, but I faced a challenge. I am proud to represent Pakistan globally.”
Nearly a colleague was Karachi runner Abdul Rahman, who crossed the final line in 2:51:13, and declared it his best marathon yet. While Mukti and Rehman ran in the traditional running gear, Faisal Shafi and Danish Elahi chose a different path – which respected their heritage. They both completed the marathon in 3 hours and 26 minutes, identifying the runners’ rapidly known finish in traditional Pakistani clothing, Shalwar shirt.
“This record is dedicated to all Pakistan,” Elahi told this representative in an exclusive interview. “It is really memorable to set a record in a historic race like Boston.” Shafi, equally happy, added: “We did this to highlight Pakistan’s positive image, and we will celebrate this victory back home.”
The 39 -year -old mother of the three based in the United Arab Emirates was Sara Lodhi, who ended in 3:24:46. For Lodhi, it was its ninth career marathon and the fifth World Marathon Major, which is a proof of his discipline and determination.
Lodhi said, “As a mother of three girls, it is really important for me that a woman can achieve what she makes her mind.” “They see discipline – wake up at 3am for training before being prepared for school.”
Reflecting on his journey, he added: “This is the first generation of Pakistani women running a marathon, and I am grateful to be part of the movement. Here has been a strange journey to qualify and perform well, which has been a strange journey.”
