He said that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is one of the oldest issues on the agendas of both the UN and the OIC. He said that not only as an organization, the OIC but every member of the state extends unclear support to the people of Kashmir. Dudobi also informed the participants that a comprehensive report on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir will be presented at the next meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers. The envoy noted that the purpose of his current visit is to better understand the dynamics created by the Kashmir dispute, especially in the light of India’s unilateral operations on August 5, 2019. He said that his visit to Muzaffarabad and a deep insight and help in assessing the situation based on interactions with local residents and officials.
Other prominent speakers of the event included Ghulam Mohammad Safi, all -party Hurriyat Conference (APC) AJ Chapter Convenor, and Kashmir Institute of International Relations (Care) Chairman Altaf Hussain Wani. Former Secretary of State and Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), Ambassador Sohail Mehmood, said that Pakistan has deeply appreciated the OIC’s permanent and irreversible support for Kashmir cause, which is central to the organization’s agenda. He noted that the OIC has unclear India’s overall and organized human rights abuses in Jammu and Kashmir, India, and has strongly supported the rights of the Kashmiri people’s self -determination as the UN Charter and the relevant Security Council resolutions. Ambassador Mahmood also acknowledged the role of the OIC’s Independent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) in monitoring and documenting human rights abuses in the region. He praised the commission’s efforts to maintain information reserves, which helps increase global awareness about the plight of the Kashmiri people. Highlighting the ongoing serious situation, he said that illegal occupation and brutal oppression of Jammu and Kashmir, which began in 1947, is underway. He pointed out that more than five years have passed since the illegal and unilateral measures of August 5, 2019, which aims to change the region’s internationally recognized controversial status and change its population synthesis. During this period, Kashmiris have long been curfew, double lockdown, arbitrary arrests, torture, illegal casualties, internet shutdowns, suppressing human rights activists and crackdown on the media. He warned that the Indian settler colonial project was regularly trying to convert the Muslim majority into a minority in its own homeland. He also expressed concern over repeated threats by the Indian ministers forcibly merging Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit -Baltistan (GB), and called such statements extremely provocative. Ambassador Mahmood emphasized that the international community should only go beyond dispute management and work actively to resolve disputes. He pointed out that according to the UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, sustainable peace in South Asia is unacceptable without a fair and lasting solution to the Jammu and Kashmir conflict. Dr. Khurram Abbas, director of the India Studies Center, highlighted the most human and economic cost of war, especially in the 21st century. Presenting the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict as a tough example, he noted that Ukraine has already suffered more than $ 180 billion in direct infrastructure losses. Nearly $ 524 billion will be needed to rebuild this country. He emphasized that these figures highlight the importance of investing in resolving peaceful conflicts rather than resorting to armed conflict. Dr. Abbas remarked, “Wars are no longer viable options. They are economically destructive and unstable.”
Ghulam Mohammad Safi thanked the OIC for being voiceless for the OIC and providing an important platform for the people of Jammu and Kashmir for advocating for self -determination.
Reflecting for more than seven decades of unresolved dispute, Saifi was responsible for the UN’s paralysis, the apathy of major powers, and the continued prejudice of India for the continued misery of the Kashmiri people. He reminded the audience that it was India that the Kashmir issue was initially brought to the United Nations, which was expected to be favorable based on the alleged affiliate device. However, instead, the United Nations gave the people of Jammu and Kashmir the right to give the right to decide their future through an alphabet. Saifi also pointed to the use of veto power by a large state as an important reason for the dispute resolution. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir seek peaceful, sustainable solutions in the UN Security Council resolutions. Altaf Hussain Wani echoed similar sentiments, calling the OIC a backer of hope for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that Kashmir is not a regional dispute but a matter of basic human rights and self -determination. Wani highlighted the dual effects of religious repression and economic backwardness in Indian -occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which he said that Hallonis has been exposed to the story of India’s integration and development. He condemned the implementation of India’s systematic sanctions on Muslim religious practices that he banned Eid and Friday prayers and criticized state control over Islamic institutions through legislation such as a dedicated amendment act. On the contrary, he noted that Hindu pilgrims continue to get state convenience through the pilgrimage, and consider this situation equivalent to religious color. Wani also challenged India’s development claims on August 5, 2019 after the elimination of articles 370 and 35A. He cited economic data, which shows that the region has lost $ 5.3 billion in the first nine months after the first nine months, and after that the Indian government has reduced the budget allocation for the region. He said the unemployment rate increased from 16.29pc in 2019 to 28.2pc in 2024, while siege and search operations are underway in the area. Ambassador of the Board of Governors in ISSI Khalid Mehmood rejected Indian claims that UN resolutions on Kashmir are out of date. He confirmed that the resolutions were correct, as the UN Secretary -General also reaffirmed. Zaman Bajwa, executive director of the Youth Forum for Kashmir, praised the enthusiasm of young participants in the Fellowship program and encouraged them to use the opportunity to promote Kashmir through educational research, writing and advocacy.
