KARACHI: Islamabad United opener Sahib Zada Farhan has looked at the return of the Pakistan team and the long -term international career, which has forced banking on its strong Pakistan Super League and the National T20 form to return to the national dispute.
In an exclusive interview with Geo News, the 29 -year -old batsman highlighted that his aim is to gain a stable place in the national side rather than a short -term opportunity. Farhan said, “My goal is to play again for Pakistan and not just for one or two matches but to stay in the long -term team.” “When I return, I want to strengthen my place, not a short appearance.”
Farhan supported his dominant performance in the recent National T20 Cup, where he broke the three centuries and two -fifths to build his confidence before the PSL. “Scoring a century in the early National T20, I promoted me,” he said. “I planned to dominate this tournament to focus on the PSL selection, and thankfully this form has pushed forward.”
Farhan was initially neglected by PSL franchises during a draft of the players in January. He then scored 605 runs in seven innings for the National T20 tournament. His performances supported three centuries and two half centuries, and later agreed to select Sir Zada Farhan in the supplementary category.
Farhan said his consistency in the PSL should silence the critics who labeled him as the “domestic” actor. Farhan said, “People used to say that I only score in domestic cricket, but I have proved them wrong in the PSL.” “Performing such a high profile league makes a strong case for international choices.”
Sahibzada Farhan highlighted the importance of PSL performance in reducing the transfer of international cricket. He said, “The level of competition here is severe, the top bowlers in the PSL are facing, prepares you to play for Pakistan in international cricket.” “If you perform here, it is easier to adjust internationally.”
He also pointed out fierce competition for opening the slot in Pakistan’s lineup. “There are a lot of strong openers, so you need permanent performances to earn and maintain your place,” he said. “No player should be decided after just two or three games. They need a suitable run to prove themselves.”
Farhan is getting Islamabad United, especially Captain Salman Agha’s management to improve his technique. He revealed, “After the first match, Salman gave me valuable points that helped improve my balance and side game.” “Now I’m scoring more independently in this area.” He also supported his academy coaches as a batsman. “Little adjustments can make a big difference, and I’m working to make a permanent improvement,” he said.
Farhan, who is known for his aggressive paralysis, emphasized that he is never satisfied with a good innings. “I can’t rest after one or two performances, I always put more emphasis,” he said. “My goal is to score this PSL for at least one or two centuries to break the record of most T20 centuries in the calendar year and help my team win.”
Considering the challenges of T20 batting, it emphasized the importance of adaptation. “In the T20s, your batting position is very important – I prefer to open because it gives me time to make the innings. In ODIs and T20S, you have more time to adjust, but still you need to be active.”
Farhan acknowledged that international cricket comes with severe scrutiny but said he was ready for this challenge. “There is a lot of pressure at the highest level, but I have learned to embrace it,” he said. “My mindset is easy: control what you can do, work hard, and let the performances speak.”
Along with Islamabad United, PSLX is dominated, Farhan is determined to maintain its shape. “I’m enjoying my batting right now, and I want to keep part. If I keep performing, the rest will take care of myself.”
