According to an Israeli official and two other sources familiar with the matter, the United States is considering a limited attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities in the coming months, despite the hesitation in supporting the military strike.
Israeli officers are convinced that Tehran should never be allowed to produce nuclear weapons, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for a dialogue as a result of the complete elimination of Iran’s nuclear program.
Sources said that over the past months, Israel has proposed many powers to attack Iran’s facilities, including some spring and summer timelines.
Sources said these projects include a mixture of air strikes and commando operations, which varies in severity and can overtake Tehran’s ability to surrender its nuclear program only or a year or more.
The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Trump told Netanyahu at a White House meeting earlier this month that Washington wants to give priority to diplomatic talks with Tehran and is not willing to support the country’s nuclear facilities in a short term.
But Israeli officials now believe that their army can instead launch a limited strike on Iran, which will need less US assistance. Such an attack will be significantly smaller than the proposed Israel.
It is unclear whether Israel will move forward with such a strike, especially with talks at the beginning of the nuclear deal. Such a move could potentially be separated from Trump, and could pose a threat to America’s wider support for Israel.
Two former Biden administration officials told Reuters that some parts of the projects were presented to the Biden administration last year. Almost all important US assistance is needed through direct military intervention or intelligence sharing. Israel has also requested that Israel defend itself in Washington.
In response to a request for comment, the US National Security Council cited Reuters on Thursday, referring to Trump’s comment, when he told reporters that he had not stopped the attack on Israel, but was not “rush” to support military action against Tehran.
“I think Iran has the opportunity to have a great country and live a happy life without death,” Trump said. “This is my first option. If there is another option, I think it will be very bad for Iran, and I think Iran wants to talk.”
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office did not immediately respond to a request to comment. An Israeli senior official told Reuters that no decision has been made about the Iranian strike yet.
A senior Iranian security official said that Tehran was aware of the Israeli plan and that the attack would incite “Iran’s harsh and irregular reaction”.
The official told Reuters, “We have intelligence from reliable sources that Israel is planning a major attack on Iran’s nuclear locations. It is dissatisfaction with Iran’s ongoing diplomatic efforts on the nuclear program, and is a source of political survival as a source of Netanyahu.”
Biden Administration Push Back
Netanyahu received pushbacks from the Biden administration when he presented the previous version of the project. Former Biden officials said that Netanyahu wants us to take the lead over air strikes, but the Biden White House told Israel that he is unaware that Tehran does not move to accelerate the enrichment of nuclear materials or to evacuate inspectors from the country.
Biden officials also questioned how effectively the Israeli army could attack.
Former officials and experts have long said that Israel will need US troops and weapons to eliminate Iran’s nuclear facilities and reserves, some of which are under underground facilities.
Sources said that although a more limited military strike is being considered that Israel will need less direct help-especially in the form of US bombers that are leaving Bonker Besting, which can reach deep buried facilities.
Any attack will pose a threat. Military and nuclear experts say that even with large -scale firepower, a strike will probably temporarily return only one program, which the West says is to finally produce a nuclear bomb, though Iran has denied it.
Israeli officials have told Washington in recent weeks that they are unaware that US dialogue with Iran should move forward in the phase of the deal without guarantee that Tehran will not have the capacity to build a nuclear weapon.
“This can be done through a contract, but only when this contract is Libya: under US supervision, blows up installations, eliminating all the goods,” Netanyahu said after a conversation with Trump. “The second possibility is that … he [Iran] Drag the conversation and then there is a military option. “
From Israel’s point of view, this may be a good moment to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.
A senior Israeli official, speaking to reporters earlier this month, acknowledged that if Iran had to start a strike before rebuilding its air defense, it was a matter of urgency. But the senior official refused to describe any timeline for possible Israeli action, saying it would be “meaningless” to discuss it.
