KARACHI: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal on Monday announced that work on the score-Hyderabad motorway will start this year and will be completed in the next three years.
Addressing the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and later during a visit to the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), he said that the PML -N government had begun bidding for the project in 2018, but the progress by the PTI government was halted, which led to significant delay.
He emphasized that the country now needs a “economic long march” instead of political people. Iqbal noted that remittances could be increased from $ 30 billion to $ 50 billion over the next few years. He pointed out that the world is now pursuing mineral resources.
He also referred to the policy rate from 22 % to 12 % and inflation as key successes from 38 % to 9.0 %. Denying the K-IV water project, he said that there were no obstacles from the federal government, but water supply could not start until the flow infrastructure was completed.
Terming the KCCI as the biggest in Pakistan, he praised its important role in the country’s economic development. He called on the business leaders to become a ‘and Pakistan’ participating pilot in the national campaign for development ‘and in Pakistan.
He expressed disappointment that some Pakistanis negatively present the country on global platforms despite its ideological foundations and successes in industry, agriculture and health care. Reflecting the 2018 elections, he remarked that inexperienced persons were brought to power, which resulted in a shock. He claimed that relations with China were in stress during this period, which caused Chinese investors to appear somewhere else. He called on all Pakistanis to accept responsibility for the stability and development of the country.
Highlighting the importance of exports, Iqbal said that the real VIPs in Pakistan are people who earn foreign exchange. He encouraged the cottage industry exports from home and urged each exporter to take product samples within the coming year and move globally.
He identified the contradictions of being Pakistan’s agricultural country, while the annual billion worth 10 billion agricultural goods has been imported. He emphasized the need to focus on exports in industry, services, IT and mining. He warned that future disputes on minerals would be resolved and that Balochistan, being rich in minerals, has already been targeted by the elements. IQBal emphasized the use of modern technology in production and said that the interest rate has dropped from 22 % to 12 % within a year.
Recommending the establishment of the ‘Uran Pakistan Business Council’, he said that many issues were not as serious as they feel and just need attention. Karachi, he said, Uran Pakistan is the runway. He learned from past mistakes and demanded peace, stability and permanent policies to advance the country.
Talking to the media during his visit to the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), he emphasized the importance of women’s participation in both corporate and private sectors. He said that the planned projects are being restored through public private partnerships and has announced that a dedicated cell is being set up in the ministry to work on national shells by 2035.
He also announced that the federal government has allocated Rs 5 billion for the Karachi site area, while the KIV project is a federal move, eliminating water -related concerns. He said that both PPP and PML -N are part of the present government, and only decisions are being made in the national interest. He organized the nationalist elements responsible for promoting the dispute and said that the PPP must respond to it.
Iqbal emphasized that food security is a collective responsibility and is warned against the politics of water and food problems, and warns that such measures can have serious consequences. He assured that the federal government would never take controversial measures and protect the rights of all provinces.
He reminded that just 10 days before the non -confidence movement in April 2022, the country was on a predetermined edge, but the situation was brought under control. He also said that a committee headed by the Finance Minister has been constituted to accelerate the resolution of the refund.
