The army’s media wing said on Sunday that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s desire to deepen his long -standing partnership with the United States that it was mutually beneficial and respected by each other’s national interests.
According to a statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief gave the remarks while talking to a US Congress delegation who demanded him in Rawalpindi today. The delegation was led by Jackbergman and included Congressman Thomas Sozi and Jonathan Jackson.
The debates during the meeting included a number of issues of mutual interest, which emphasizes regional security and defense cooperation, read the statement.
The ISPR said that the two sides confirmed the importance of mutual respect, shared values, and permanent engagement based on changing strategic interests.
The visiting US lawmakers praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their important role in tackling terrorism and acknowledged Pakistan’s sustainable contribution to regional peace and stability.
The Congress also expressed deep appreciation for Pakistan’s flexibility and the strategic capacity of its people.
Identifying their respect for Pakistan’s sovereignty, the US Congress delegation expressed a strong commitment to the domains of security, trade, investment and economic development, especially to advance bilateral cooperation.
Kos General Munir praised the delegation for his visit and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to deepen and diversify his long -standing partnership with the United States, which is mutually beneficial and respected by each other’s national interests.
During the meeting, Memorandum of Understanding (MUS) was also signed for training in the field of information technology, read the statement.
Earlier, the Congress delegation held an important meeting with Federal Interior Minister Mohsen Naqvi in the federal capital.
During the meeting, Naqvi emphasized the role of the country in the fight against terrorism, saying that “Pakistan stands like a wall between terrorism and the rest of the world”.
The two sides also exchanged views about enhancing cooperation in the economy, trade and investment sectors. Security, counter -terrorism and border security were also discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi described the threat of terrorism as a “global challenge” and said that the international community would have to increase fully cooperation to Pakistan.
He said: “Intelligence and technology sharing in the counter -terrorism domain is of paramount importance.”
The Minister added that Pakistan’s immense sacrifices against terrorism are unprecedented in the global context. He said that a visit to the US Congress would be very important in highlighting Pakistan’s unprecedented role in the fight against terrorism.
The Home Minister welcomed the participation of a US delegation at the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 2025. He added that the government will ensure all possible convenience and full protection to the investors.
Naqvi said strong and lasting relations with the United States have an important place in Pakistan’s foreign policy. He said that holding Pakistan Cox in the United States on April 30 is a welcome development.
The US Congress delegation said that Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism needs to be highlighted. He added that the Pakistani community living in the United States is very talented and diligent.
